Hi all I just wanted to tell you all that I have been in the hospital for the last few days so I haven't been on line. I missed you guys.

I have diverticulitis but am on the road to recovery. I have been on pain medication cause I have been in a lot of pain. As long as I take them as prescribed it is not a threat to my sobriety. My sponsor says I just have to be accountable.

I had lots of visitors and my spirits were up. It made all the difference in the world. It made me feel loved and cared for. That is such a wonderful feeling.

I continued to do AA stuff even in my drug induced state and I had one friend who came almost everyday to read with me. I am so grateful to have a friend like that.

All in all it turned out to be a wonderful experience in spite of the pain. I will have 6mos Sobriety on April 7th God willing. And I am so grateful that I am still able to say that.

I don't want to make this too long of post. I just wanted to share with you guys that it can and will get better if you persevere even when you are feeling like shit physically. I wish these blessings of mine for all of you.

Take care all, Morgan:Hug_emoticon:

welcome back Morgan....I hope you feel better really soon, diverticulitis sucks and is painful. As far as the pain meds go....try not to overmedicate because you are so lucky to have 6 months of sobriety...i am so proud of you!!! I have to wean myself off my pain killers when my neck treatments are done too...not looking forward to that but am taking it one day at a time...glad to see you back.

Nice to 'see' you back Morgan. Hope you are feeling better. It's good to know you had lots of visitors while in the hospital. The only time I was in hospital, it was only for a couple of days, but I hated every second of it.

Well done on the sobriety :thumbs-up

Take care

Hi Morgan,

Diverticulitis is a real pain. I'm glad it was diagnosed and treated in time. Sounds like you had a particularly bad case if you were in the hospital for a few days. Hope your healing is quick.

As far as pain pills go, I have decided that when I'm using them if I say to myself, "Boy this feels pretty good. I wonder if another one would feel even better?" I'm starting to be in trouble. I think just as long as you don't use them for fun, you can still consider yourself clean and sober. I'll be looking forward to April 7. Six months is a good one.

Ahhhh Morgan....I feel for you. I have battled Diverticulitis for over 20 years now, and many many many flare ups. Just had my last 2 in Dec and again in Jan. I will struggle through rather than go through the surgery.....

Eat plenty of Veggies, and fruit. Lots of fiber too... Have to keep things moving. That's important too. I know that say no seeds, including Strawberries, blueberries, Kiwi, cukes, tomatoes, and anything else that have seeds, but I eat them. I would be lost and deprived without my fruit.

Nuts, is the big baddie, those, I NOW stay away from......

Take care, and be gentle on yourself for awhile........Try and stay away from the pain meds if you can. I rarely take them, I usually just stick to over the counter stuff...

Hi Morgan and welcome back!

I'm sorry to hear that you've been ill. My brother went through a pretty bad experience with diverticulitis (he has since gone vegan and has had no further problems, thank goodness).

Hang in there and glad to hear you're on the mend!

Thanks to all the responses and advice. I never had this before. I also enjoyed the dilaudid at first but now I am sick of being high. I am on norco and I only take it once a day now. I can take it 3 times a day if i want to but I'd rather endure the pain at this point. I told my sponsor that and she said good and to try ibuprofen 800mg. I do have some so I might as well use it.

On top of everthing else, I am sick with a cold or flu or something. I had a fever but I've been able to manage it with Tylenol. I am basically miserable with infection and fever but it doesn't seem to be affecting my ptsd. So I am grateful for that.

Amyway, I think I am just rambling so I will stop now. Thanks again everyone.

Take care all, Morgan

Sorry I'm late to respond and sorry to hear you were not well Morgan. I trust the prognosis is good and great work on the sobriety :occasion:

Morgan

While your physical self seems a bit "off" shall we say, sounds like your "head" is right where it need to be. Congrats! !

You are doing great and deserve to be proud of how you are handling all of this mess.

Hope things continue to improve and you will be your old "self" again.

Best Wishes and thinking of you Grama Herc
