I agree with Iam Jawn, I would 'guestimate' from what you said she's glad the holiday is over.
And I think she will make more progress because your judgment call was not to blame her (for not telling you).

I liked ISH's analogy to 2 Ferris Wheels in another post.
Funny thing is, just like things can get much worse (as we all have likely experienced), things can also get better and you don't really even know 'how', or 'why' exactly, I would never have believed that but it is possible.

Jawn, I told you before that we have a long haired dachshund, right? That fell or jumped off the bed and had a neck injury? When taking a dog to the Doggie ER, there are a few things that you don't want to hear. First, "I'm sorry, there was nothing we could do", that is NOT what we heard. A close second is "We've called in a neurosurgeon"
Cost us thousands. Now we have a dog that can go up steps, one at a time, but has no ability to walk down them. He also falls when he tries to run but at least he's low to the ground and doesn't have far to fall, LOL. But he's still a sweet dog.

Dachshunds are wonderful. We have 2 that have paid visits to the neurosurgeon. Both have had back surgery and one of them needed neck surgery a couple of years later. She's one expensive dog now, but a very sweet girl. She's a fighter/survivor though. We got her when she was 3 or 4 days old and fed her with an eye dropper. She was so small she fit in my shirt pocket. She's 8 1/2 yrs old now but still very spunky!

We have another one that is a rescue that was already "down" when we got her and surgery was not considered "worth it" at that point. My wife took her to physical therapy and acupuncture and she can walk a bit now. Kinda like a drunk sailor on shore leave. lol

We also have a blind dachshund and a deaf one too. Every where you look we have dachshunds. I have a sign by our gate that shows a dachshund and says "death from the ankles down". ;)

Wow! A woman that knows her power tools! LOL! Unfortunately I already have a jigsaw.....hmmm, what else might I need? ;)

When I bought a tool chest on wheels and all the tools to go in it for my husbands Christmas present......everyone laughed at me! Why? Cause they knew I was the one who would use all of it!

I would just like it to be known that I even owned a chain saw when I met Anthony and the neighbourhood guys would come to me to borrow tools. Biggest lesson - don't lend tools as they never come back the same (like a blunt chainsaw ). Jawn some of us are mighty talented given the right access and determination. :p

MMMM you should see me wielding a spanner, stripping motorbikes down. Complete with mechanics jeans, yep I got some of those too.

The saddest I ever saw my Dad was when he asked me to go buy Mom's Christmas present some years ago. He was bummed majorly. He'd been planning on replacing the diamond in her engagement ring she'd lost, can't get out himself so had this alllll planned. I got to the house and he was slumped in his chair. I thought he was on his last legs, that day. " DAD, what it it? Are you ok? Should we take you to the ER?" , " She says she doesn't want a diamond, she wants a Dremel". Power tool. My mother was 75 at the time, a little, pretty product of Main-Line Philadelphia. I had to look up Dremel and then go buy it, and a jig saw, BAND SAW, and one of those whatever they are power hammers in subsequent years, Jawn. You would love my mother. Sorry so long but I saw 'woman who knows power tools' up there a bit and thought whew- wait! They were putting renovations, she's Scottish, THRIFTY, and did a lot herself-not lying. She also knits... .

I also love the cut-out idea. Since I'm behind the ball seeing that, did you find the pattern or make one?

Did anyone even KNOW there was a dog neurosurgeon and how does one decide on that as a specialty, in college?
