Trump doesn't say politically incorrect things - he engages in out and out racism. I don't know where you have been the last thirty years but I have heard a lot of discussion on this issue and related issues from school, university, public talks, to the blogosphere to the media - to conversations in coffee shops. White people are not silent on these issues - at all. No one has been silent on Black on Black racism either - that has been pulled apart for over 5 decades now. Even Oprah Winfrey did programs on it on her TV show.If Trump says Political Incorrect things that offend people why are white people so silent about the worst of rap music?
This is not true. Many people have raised their voices many, many times - there are books and PhDs and the most amazing amount of literature on these issues. This has been going on for such a long time and very few have raised their voices on the topic.
If you understand the history of slavery and the ways in which that is embedded within American society then it shows, historically, how White people have abused, exploited and killed Black people at their whim - if you understand the nuances of that then you can understand why it is so frightening that someone running for a presidential position, particularly a White man with so much power and money, as traditionally it was White men with lots of power and money who owned slaves - look at how long that lasted and what legacies that leaves.
The subtext seems to be if there is Black on Black racism - then Trump's racism is not so bad?
There is a thing called confirmation bias - it is important not to reinforce that in ourselves or other people.
What has come out of America, in terms of this presidential race has been sobering - the commentary on this forum - from Americans - has been most concerning indeed. The aggression, nastiness and bite of some of the interactions is most disappointing indeed.
I really can't see why bringing up Black on Black racism is "brave" seeing that it has been discussed and pulled apart from the 1960s onwards and is still the subject of much debate in many forums. It is brave to talk about things that no one talks about - but this is discussed all the time. The why of bringing it up seems to have a thread of well Trump is not so bad as X does it too. That is strawman type of argument. The not knowing that it has been discussed and in such detail, shows the deep lack of understanding of the past and present issues and doesn't bode too well for the future.
The understanding of intergenerational nature of trauma provides a basis for understanding some of what is occurring today. There are terabytes of information out there on this subject, available for anyone to read.
