Kindle???? Heresy I say, Heresy!!!!

I have done some extensive research, and this by far takes the cake.

The book by Ahn Do was a fascinating read, I highly recommended it, and another Australian book that is a gripping read is A Fortunate Life by A.B Facey.

Ebooks by far are cheaper, and if you get something like a Sony eReader, you won't be restricted to the type of downloaded ebooks from all sorts of companies, not just just Amazon.

Nah... I've got the new Kindle Paperwhite on order, which has a new lighting technology that isn't backlit, instead done so the lighting goes from top to bottom via little nano holes they embedded into it all. No sore eyes, yet can read in any light with perfect clarity on the screen at all times... and no sore eyes.

I haven't had a problem with sore eyes and I've been reading A LOT :bookworm:.

Bub, I'd forgotten about Gerald Durrell, I read all of his in my younger days. Along with James Herriot and Nevil Shute.

This one is sneaky, but the great thing about my Kindle is that H doesn't know when I have a new book :shifty:

The sore eyes KP is from back lighting. Kindles do not use lighting, until the Paperwhite is released. Backlit screens are renown for sore eyes after you look at them for hours, hence why Kindle hasn't used them until they got this new method of lighting from the top down, not the bottom up.

I absolutely adore James Herriot, his books have had me rolling on the floor more than once, another old book that I really enjoyed was Sun on the Stubble, I can't remember the author, but I promise you its a fantastic read, and bloody hilarious, about a german family who have settled in Australia when the transition from horses to cars was taking place in the general public.

And yes, I totally agree, my H doesn't know either:cautious::sneaky: ......until he asks what has me so engrossed because he knows how fast I fly through books, and if I'm engrossed for more than a week he starts getting suspicious:whistling: ......that man knows me way too well!!!:p:inlove:


I'm interested in this new technology from Kindle, but to be honest the new Sony eReader looks as nice as it works, so I'm kinda sunk.:rolleyes:
Besides, I have a Viao laptop, and have been lusting after the new Xperia SL as well as the tablet, so I might as well stick with a brand that, for once, actually isn't too bad.:cool:

I was looking at the Paperwhite and I am interested. It could easily go in my purse and be taken to many places without thinking to much about it. Could easily be taken with me and used even when I don't realize I need it. Then, I can forget about it in my purse and it will still have power weeks (!!) later.

Are the books much cheaper? Or just a little cheaper?

The books can be up to 50% cheaper, depending on the author and date of release.
Even then, it is still cheaper, and even more so when you think about how much space and convenience is generated by having all your favourite authors saved into something the thickness and size of a notepad.

Some ebooks are more expensive than the paperback, solely because they might be wanting to get rid of the paperback stock. Sometimes the publisher sets the ebook price versus say Amazon of the seller. Some are really cheap, because the author is new or the book isn't selling well, so they decrease the price to move them. It really just all depends on each book, the publisher and the seller... from what I've found so far taking a look and reading about it all.

That is when I spin a yarn about free books - haha. Bless him, he bought me the Kindle so he does expect me to buy books. I have limited myself to spending no more that £10 per month. I'm well below that as I have found a load of free books which interest me.

Sun on the Stubble by Colin Thiele. Kindle edition for £2.05. I've put it in my wish list and will buy it later.

Yes, that is the author I was thinking of KP, will have to see if I still have a copy, as it's a very good read which never gets old.

Another interesting, rather tongue in cheek book is called How to tell a Bastard by his Star Sign.

It's extremely funny, and good for a laugh at life.

I finished reading Throne of Glass last night, its a damn good read also.
