Never heard of it. Sent the link to my therapist to see if she has heard of it. If it works, it is another resource we can use. Thanks!

Ok, I'm a skeptic and I view anything today that's supposed to help vets and a way for someone to make money. I did watch the initial video and found it to be well edited and designed to draw you in to their treatment program. Understand, I'm not saying that this won't work. What I'm saying is that no program, as they suggest, will reduce the stresses associated with PTSD in a few days. Sorry, that I just don't believe.

But on the positive side I would advocate things like Yoga, Mindfulness, Breathing Exercises and also including TaiChi and ChiJung. They all use ways to exercise, relax and help you to be more open to the stresses we have as combat vets. I believe you can do the same thing by finding a local Yoga school and take courses there in yoga, breathing, meditation and mindfulness. These are things that will have a positive impact on you and how you learn to deal with your problems.

I also don't think it's something to take the place of traditional therapy such as PE, CBT or other proven methods that help improve our conditions with PTSD. As I said, I'm a skeptic. If you can find a method that appeals to you and helps you with your problems than go for it. I just err on the side of caution as today so many programs are popping up to 'help' vets.

I gotta agree Jar. The biggest and greatest therapy that I have ever discovered was to remove the "STRESS" in PTSD. This is the hardest part though it seems.

Right on Grizz, Removing the "STRESS".....Chronic Pain="STRESS", so for us that have Chronic Pain are mostly screwed!!! How does one turn off pain from a sciatic nerve? Jar my hat is off to you brother, you have been dealing with this Chronic Pain for so many years.......Me, only a few and it wares me out.....

Thanks ODG,

I can't really say how I learned to live with it or if I really have, chronic pain I mean. It was harder at first when I realized that that was the way it was going to be. I couldn't really accept that. Sound familiar. I've always had good and bad times with it and that's the way of it. I wish I could tell you how to turn of a sciatic pain. If I could I'd give it to the world, or maybe sell it cheap.

Like most pain, it depends where and how it's generated as far as what you might be able to do about it. I do know that you have to keep moving 'cause once you stop you're done. That's starting to get harder, although I'm not admitting that.

Thanks JR,

Has anyone tried this????

Not this course but one that is similar.

This was a 5 day course that was given at our Vet Center. Very, very effective, it's the same principle based on breathing techniques and meditation. It's not for everyone but you can cherry-pick the techniques and do what works for you. This was a service that is offered "gratis" to the Vet Centers in NJ.

Yoga, breathing, meditation are all good but I find they are not successful without having someone else, namely other vets, involved. They reinforce, support, and encourage what you do. You encourage them. It's what we did then. It's what we do now. Yoga etc, will help in the tough spots. It certainly beats drugs. But I agree there is still a pit in my stomach. I don't feel that pit when I am active, talking, doing something, with someone else who shares common feelings. Unfortunately, it does not come often enough. And the anger builds......

Hey Vik

The group dynamic is a good one and always positive and helpful. Somehow, though, one needs to create a time each day to practice. That can be a difficult thing to do but it's a good habit to create. I don't know how often you have a group training session but you're right they help to reinforce and encourage you to continue.

I find the individual session of working alone to be a challenge, whether it's yoga, breathing, or even therapy. Doing the things that help us really works best for me when I practice them everyday. I think that's perhaps the hardest part. It's like if I'm between group session for PTSD I always know that I can call someone from my group if I'm having a rough time. Support is important.
