I haven't been out here for a while, but I've been thinking a lot throughout today's continual news casts regarding what has transpired early last night and this morning in my now hometown. So much violence, so much heroism, so much collaboration, so much encouragement, yet so much sadness for our metro area and our country.
We work together in Central Florida, of which Orlando is the central point. This is my community. We are tolerant and accepting, and so much about working together (quote from law enforcement that "we are working shoulder to shoulder and hand in hand.") is so much about who we are in Central Florida. Several counties, small cities, the State, etc.. all working together. It's amazing. I am glad to be a resident along-side of these other people. I feel meek by comparison. At the same time, my heart is breaking, and I've been crying all day long for those lost and their families, and for our country.
People have been going to the blood bank, bringing in water and food, and providing support in the way in which they could think would help. The rest of the surrounding counties have also reached out and reached in along with the rest of the country.
I am so appreciative and impressed by the working together of law enforcement in my area - counties/cities, the State, and the federal agencies, and the offers of support from other states. No ego, just getting the job done and trying to help. So much love to law enforcement, first responders, surgeons, nurses, etc...!!!!
Please send out love. I have heard time and again today that love will win out over hate. I want to lead my life with love and acceptance, so will move forward in a way that is positive and not entrenched in hate and vengeance - that is "their" realm.
Please take care in your own communities and pray for mine. I never thought this would happen here.
