Building Confidence For My Career: Told That I'm A "worrier"

If you don't start teaching for a month
I start on August 11th.
I would take yourself somewhere nice, do some nice things for you. Not work, not achievements, or goals etc.
I'm getting a deep tissue massage on August 5th, and I plan on mostly writing my own poetry and hanging out while doing things that make me happy that I otherwise can't do because of my hectic schedule.
I don't know why your on this forum but I would suspect that like a lot of others on here you don't value yourself because whatever happened for you started in childhood.
I suffer from PTSD from various traumas. I thought that I had only suffered from one trauma, but after some therapy sessions, I realized that there were many traumatic episodes in my life that were more or less uncovered and erupted by the most recent trauma (wrongful incarceration) that I experienced 11 months ago. Such traumas included: childhood physical abuse, bullying from classmates that lasted until I was 16 years old and suicidal, and an inappropriate romantic and sexual relationship that I had with a man who was 11 years my senior.

I agree with Springer, as well as Gizmo. I'd bet, for example, that when you pdoc decided to take you off your SSRI meds, your circumstances were particularly less stressful than they are at the moment, and likely to be in the near future. A life transition is always one of the most stressful ordeals we can face...a first transition into one's career, all the more so.

((InsideAWord)) Most of the my friends that teach are all a tad codependent due to the natural gift that allows us to keep our finger on the pulse of the class. Many of us, have been where you stand and we all gave each other reassurance during those times, where the intensity exuded from students in stress.

Once you have a few semesters under your belt, your capacity to love will shine and you will flourish. Balance between my boundaries and my senses was key. As my PTSD kicked in, I took off a little bit of time from the Professor Game to strengthen my boundaries from the constant giving.

However, I am going back to teaching on-line shortly as it is in my blood, my passion and my privileged to assist the next generation in education. Peace and blessings to you as you enter one of the most gratifying as well as challenging fields that will teach you as much as you instruct.
