Burn Pit Update

I wish they would come to terms with Agent Orange. But it's too late for me. My eyes are so scarred they may have to replace the corneas soon. My glass lenses are like Coke bottle bottoms.

Had a good friend who was 82nd Airborne. His arms from his forearm to this hands were burned in places from AO. And it affected his brain too. He was a smart guy. Wife divorced him. He had to go live with his Dad in North Carolina. He finally died there. It must have really been bad for his Dad to watch his son deteriorate like that. He was a good man. We would work together on community projects like cleaning up the lake and shoveling out the drains. I miss him. Heart of gold.

Your 100% right VikingR! It is another grievance listed that is being ignored by the Federal government. Being a disabled Vet myself I am around a lot of us, from all generations. And we all have our grievances. I feel for you that you lost a friend and you are still suffering, so many, not years, but decades later. I hope you the best in getting treatment for your infirmaries.

I don't like making responses to others posts about myself, but maybe this will help with "your not suffering alone"? I don't know, maybe, "leave a penny, take a penny"? I'm here to help others and receive help, too. Actually I'll take my other half of this post and cut and paste it to a new thread.

Here are some more pics I found.. Description below each pic.

Here is the thick black smoke that rained down the oily soot onto us when they blast cleaned the furnaces... I ran after I took this pic! Like I said, there was no Iraqi EPA!

Seriously, we took these pictures because everybody was wondering if we survived, if we would all get lung cancer before we were 50!
I have similar pictures of yours in Baghdad Iraq and us sleeping in a school sitting in what seemed to be refinery of some sorts and some shells. I slept in blown up buildings, some burned, few who knows what along with a castle that had rounds of several calibers rocket shells and in one room look like holocaust foot deep in men's shoes, Kick the debris away and that was your AO, no roof as it was gone with 3 out 4 walls not to mention tag team of flies, mosquitoes, gnats and fleas. Even slept on body bags once or in them. Though have breathing problems now but haven't dug into it yet not debilitating enough as it comes and goes but I been out 11 years.

Wow had no idea. Was also exposed to burning composite material from crashed burning helicopters. This guy lets call him Smith, had been burning human crap all day. His face, arms, hands, and shirt were coated in black crap residue. We had white bread and lunch meat trucked in to eat and MREs. I saw him eating a black residue coated crap sandwich. He did not attempt to clean up at all. He was not my soldier, but I told him to wash his hands before I was going to kick him in the throat. I still laugh at that today.
