As your situation is ongoing, look up "continuous traumatic stress disorder". Depression is one of the symptoms but there are many others:
- Emotional dysregulation, which includes difficulty controlling one’s emotions, recurring sadness, explosive anger, aggression, and suicidal thoughts
- Dissociation or feeling detached from one’s mental processes or body
- Dysfunctional relationships with others, including self-isolation, lack of trust, and the need to be saved or rescued
- Depression, which includes lacking feelings of purpose or belonging, losing interest in things once enjoyed, feeling hopeless, and feeling despair
- Preoccupation with the stressor
- Feelings of alienation others and society in general
- Lost sense of “self”
- Feelings of guilt, shame, and helplessness
- Variations in consciousness and psychogenic amnesia
- Impulsive and reckless behavior
- Self-destructive coping mechanisms or behaviors, such as self-cutting
- A constant feeling of vulnerability
- Exacerbated alertness
- Rigid and obsessive behavior
- Desensitization to violence
- The desire for revenge
