Can It Take 20 Years For PTSD To Come Out?

I am 29 years old now and my flashbacks are taking to things that happended when I was 2 years old.

So, as everybody said, it can take a long time to come out.

froggy Yes

I am a Viet Nam vet and found out I had PTSD in 1980. I was in Viet Nam from 1968 to 1969. I worked at a Vet Center, I am a licensed clinical social worker, and one of the counselors was working with a World War II bomber pilot who and just retired and all his symptoms became full blown in 1987 or so. I had symptoms of depression, night mares, and intermitten rage, but did not have the full blown symptoms until 1980 when I could not get Viet Nam out of my head. It is not uncommon.

Your post brought me here- also suffering from PTSD 20 years after trauma ended

Froggy,

I found the ptsd forum because of your post. I had typed the phrase into google that described my frustrating situation:

It's 20 years later, why do I have ptsd now?

Your post was the first that came up. At least both of us know that we are not alone now!
