Can Ptsd Be Overcome In Just A Few Months?

Can't you find a new therapist after you moved, if you're not "done yet" by then? I think it can be hard to put a time-frame on the healing-process, but of course things can improve some until December if you work hard in therapy.
She was definitely right, I took huge steps by making recovery my #1 priority over everything else in my life.
I think your post is really encouraging and much of it true. And I try to think this way too. I had to adjust my sails, and my course, during therapy, and it didn't follow my time-table all the time: since it can be really hard to know how much there is to work on when in denial. ;) :D But I'm trying to be humble in the process, and my recovery is more important than anything else. Without it I will for sure stumble and fall again very soon.

It hadn't occurred to me that you might stop therapy altogether with the move. I would definitely keep it as a possiblity that you'll be looking for a new therapist in your new location.

Having said that, I want to say that I do believe in complete healing. And that has never changed during the work I've done so far. I've had to adjust my expected timescale. You might not even have to, I have no idea. But I wanted to say that even if it takes longer than you might have thought at one point, I for one believe that you can really heal.

There is a sexual assault specific clinic where I'm moving to. Well, 40 minutes away anyway, it won't have to stop completely.

I started eating a good diet, exercising frequently, doing meditation daily, guided imagery, EMDR, and seeing a trauma specialist 2x a week for 3 months in a row and I saw huge improvements in a short time. Is my PTSD "overcome" fully? No... Is it "manageable" yes, but its no picnic. Doesn't help that I have co-morbid axis 1 disorders as well as personality disorders. But I can definitely say I am slowly getting my life back to where it needed to be.

I find your entire post validating encouraging and inspiring. Thank you for all that you said.
