Can PTSD Cause Shaking?

Shaking is also a dissociative symptom, like a partial dissociative seizure.

When triggered into particular traumas, I experience right arm only shaking. It shakes at a particular rate.

According to my best T. that I've had, when going into flashback, if the sufferer experienced any set of dissociative symptoms at that time, those will often accompany the flashback.

If my right hand shook at the trauma time, when I flashback to that particular trauma, my hand will be shaking now.

Often more than one trauma gets "dumped" on me at the same time, like a double-whammy. If the trauma that caused my right hand to shake is part of the "re-mix" then it will be part of the symptom set.

I hope this helps those with mysterious and unpredictable symptoms that can be solitary or overlapped.

This was one of my symptoms also. I too thought the floor was shaking, then when it got worse it was my chest shaking, hands shaking. Trying some meds and it seems to be working for the most part. Fear, fear for no apparent reason at all. Just when talking to some one casually it creeps up on you. If the shakes happen now at least I know what it is. Think of it as your own personal earth quake.

My hubby has them as well not often. Mainly in bed while having bad dream and his whole lower body shakes, and legs go like mad as if yes running very fast.

If you do TRE - Trauma Release Exercises, you tire your muscles until it sets off a tremor. The tremor can be a fine tremor or shudder or a violent episode that looks like a fit or epilepsy. It can be any part of the body. It has come out of Peter Levine's work. Look up TRE on YouTube. It is very interesting. I went to TRE classes for over a year. My body did all sorts of shaking, twisting, shuddering, jerking, spasming, shaking, grimacing, all completely involuntarily. I have a lifetime of PTSD and trauma.
