Across the country, health and human service providers have shown a growing interest in using yoga as an option for treating people who experience mental health problems. But a recent study has found that while there are some promising benefits to using yoga, there isn't yet enough evidence to support the practice as a standalone solution for improving mental health and well-being.

Just my opinion... I think purposeful, directed, movement helps. Deliberately using the somatic nervous system to override the autonomic response. I rather doubt that the flavor of movement matters as much as matching the type up with personality. Yoga for some. Running for others. Playing music. Riding horses. Martial Arts. Fly fishing. Many others. Continuing that thought, it seems like movement that inherently contains it's own rhythm, might be more effective? And, observationally, gross motor over fine motor. But, bottom line, I really suspect it's the purposeful movement in and of itself.
