Same thing happened to me. Actually smoking the pot, made my PTSD way worse. Had a total psychotic meltdown and that's what made me realize I had PTSD. I'll miss it. I never want to experience psychosis again...Scariest thing ever to loose your mind like that.

The smell is a trigger for me. I go in to sever panic when I smell it. The idea of it becoming legal and being forced to smell it on the street terrifies me. I am done thinking about it now, can't let my mind go there.

It triggers my nerve pain/restlessness that's left over from my strattera withdrawals, so sadly, I can't use it.

I had to change my vote, since it was making me sit around doing nothing, and added to my depression. I bought some that said it was for PTSD, but after I smoked it, I had to take Klonopin to settle myself.

If it is legal in someone's locality, I believe it is OK to take it, if one likes it. I don't like its effects on me (one of my answers above), not to mention that it would mix poorly with my meds (another one of my answers above). I have not tried it since I was a teenage and I am 60 now.

It's not for everyone. Good thing you don't have to worry about withdrawals since it's not physically addictive. I had that problem with all the pharmaceuticals. Cymbalta especially. It made me feel exhausted all the time, depression was worsened. I would literally cry for days and days. It's all about finding what works for us and being willing to try something else when/if we find it's no longer working.

I'd try it under a few conditions.....1. I don't have to smoke it. Ewww, gross, hate hate hate smoke! 2. I can get a strain which works well for PTSD. Uhm, I'd wanna try the strain they give to kids as it doesn't make you high!

Unfortunately only THREE states have PTSD on the books under medical MJ laws. And of course there is always Colorado and a few other states that have legalized completely, right?

A little info on how cannabis and it's components act on the body. CBD is one of many compounds that can help with reducing anxiety. There are many strains of cannabis that are low in THC and higher in CBD = less "high" and less anxiety, pain and other benefits.

I'd try it and use it if it helped in a heartbeat if it wasn't against federal law. As a retired military there is a potential, however remote, that I could lose my retirement benefits. I won't use it until it is %100 legal on the federal level. Most of the doctors (including mental health doc's) in the VA have been brainwashed to discontinue prescribing any medication for pain or psychiatric conditions if they think the patient is using cannabis.
