Cateracts

I only recently learned I had cateracts. When I found out, I consulted a opthomoligist that specialized in laser surgery. I had the procedure done on my right eye day before yesterday. I cannot believe the changes.

First, having smoked cigarettes for fifty years, I discovered that the tar can be absorbed by the lens and it colors everything with a yellowish brown. It all hit me yesterday morning when I was watching news on tv and drinking my coffee, I looked at the tv and thought, wow, the colors sure are bright this morning, thinking something was up with the tv.

Then I alternated eyes, closing one and then the other. The difference in phenominal. It might even help my depression by looking at brighter colors instead of the yucky brown I've been seeing through.

So, what I'm saying here is if you have the insurance, or can afford the price, it is really worth it.

I already am starting to see further, clearer and they said it gets even better over a period of four weeks. I would love to get my 20-10 vision back, even if it has to be corrected.

Just my little two cents.

Well my eyes have deteriorated massively in the last 4 years, going from reading glasses only used at night to having to wear them to even see my phone. It's so frustrating and depressing. I smoked for 28 years, there might be something in that. Thanks Sarg.

Yeah, Jimmy, it's amazing. Get your eyes checked. And if you have them, see if your VA will pay for the procedure. As medical procedures go, it's not that expensive.

Update:

Went to my eye Dr. yesterday and my vision went from 20/70 to 20/30! And I've still got three weeks to improve. Tho' I don't wear my prescription glasses now (severe focus issues), I will have to wear something, but not the coke bottles I was looking through.

Can't get in to get the other done until April, unless a sooner appt. opens up as did the last time. Oh, the Dr. said it wasn't cigarette smoke that yellowed the lens, it was sunlight.

Anyway, I'm thrilled, thanks for the encouragement and this new laser surgery works like a champ.
