Sounds kind of like my doc here in the air force... I went there the end of October because I was all stuffed up and it was just getting worse she gave me some allergy stuff and said come back in two weeks if it doesn't get better... I came back in two weeks because it wasn't any better and she said that until I feel sinus pressure for three days then there isn't anything she can do... Sometimes it seems like some docs join the military because if they f*ck you up. then you can't sue them

Thanks guys. Need a chuckle today. Hit a hard low after a good high yesterday.

@holdenmonty, that is partially true...but I have out processed two docs now for being incompetent. Not hard to do if the patients make a good complaint. Most patient just say they hate doc so-n-so without any real justification. ICE complaints go all long way in Navy Medicine. I have to investigate each one and give feedback to corrective action. So please make them count. Not sure if Scared Force Medicine takes them so seriously.

Glad to see this discussion. Went to the doc today and he put me in for an Alpha Stim unit also. Was wondering if anyone had used one and how it worked. Any updates, Lurch?

@gmoe240 I have bee using it for basically three weeks now. I still remember my dreams each night and the ones that would cause issue are very mundane. I had one that was very blood and gore that would have woken me up and caused the next day to be shit, but I just let the dream happen like I was watching a TV. In fact I was so complacent with the dream I became a little worried that it was a negative instead of a positive. After discussion with my Therapist, they believe it is part of the healing process.

Does it work or am I feeling a placebo effect? I don't know and right now I really don't care. The feeling of it on the ears is a little different, but currently zero negative affect. I sleep, I wake up to urinate, I sleep. It seems as though I have stretched time and the night has became longer, and the sleep seems to be better and more relaxing. The only side effect so far is increased weight loss. I was trying to lose weight before this and the weight seems to becoming off easier now, losing 2 to 3 lbs. a week versus the 1/2 lbs as before. Makes sense if I'm getting better sleep, also I could have passed a plateau.

I am always very skeptical of any new item or drug. Even if it has a long hx of working. I was raised by a scientist and this is how I approach medicine. Medicine is still an art not an exact science, that frustrates me.....

The down side for me is that for now on I cannot say if the CES is working or the medicine. They changed my meds and that increases the variables. Not good for a true report on how the device works.

With a subject of one, it is kind of harder to get any real data. If/when you get it, let us know how you do with it.

Any new update on the use of the Alpha Stim, Lurch? I have been using mine about three weeks. Hard to tell any drastic difference it is making, I do seem to be calmer and sleeping some better. I will have to agree that either by getting better sleep or an effect of using the devise itself I am losing weight quicker than before. Anyone else have experience with it?
