Hello, I have been dealing with past childhood abuse for many years and every few years, tend to get a new memory and then, really struggle. This is one of those times. It is very scary and disabling. I have gotten a lot of improvement and healing, in general, but, like I said, having a new memory now, and needing support. Glad to have found this site. Thank you!

Welcome, @AlaskaCherokee .

The realisation of repressed memories - of what actually happened to us - is an awful experience, second only to actually living it.
But as hard as it is, it can mean that our brains are ready to deal with the next piece of the puzzle.

You have experienced things that no child ever should have, and I am so sorry for that.
But you are here now, in the present, and you will get through this latest memory realisation. We're here with you. And we're really glad you've found us.

Thank you so much for your kind words!

First, KUDOS for recognizing what is going on, and using your coping skills. Our brains are almost magical when it comes to trauma. They will get us through the moment, then when it feels like we can start healing, it releases some of those memories. Think of it like a spiraling funnel. When a memory shows up, you spiral as you work through it, but next time, the spiral is a little smaller because you've learned how to cope along the way. Meditate, journal, exercise, eat healthy and allow your mind the time it needs to process. Prayers for peace and strength.
