@8888 , could I please ask, would you mind saying a prayer for someone I know wrestling with choosing MAID and their family? (Their child is frantic and reacting out in anger, they have already suffered losses that came with shock).

Thank you very much if you can/ will, xox. 🫂

Hi @Roland hope you find some time to sit down. I tend to go to my favorite places in the Bible after having the same conviction.

Rereading my highlighted/ noted scriptures. Or just pick up from whatever study I was doing last. Just gotta eat/ drink 🍞💧

Please ignore if not helpful.

Thanks for the tips, it's been really hard being disciplined about stuff like that. Plus, I've almost read the whole Bible, but I'm stuck in Jeremiah and have been for a few years because I was getting triggered by "the angry God". I really want to work through it, but you're probably right about reading something "easy" is better than not reading **sigh**. Good news, is I do pray regularly, so at least that is consistent.

@Roland I wonder what's in Jeremiah for you, that sounds important. I've been stuck before I do forget where...all I remember was believing I was called to wake up early every morning and get through it. I readied myself for what it all meant for my life. God helped me through.

If you want to discuss "stuck on the angry God" I am curious. But might have nothing to say.

That's a great perspective. I'm halfway through, maybe even two-thirds, not sure but I've been there for at least three years because it's been hard to get through and I start reading other parts of the Bible.

Jeremiah is a prophet that goes to Israel I think, to help redirect the Jews back to God, but the Jews refuse to listen. They continue in their sin, including idol worship, and prostitution. Jeremiah continuously speaks to them and the Jews continuously refuse, and then God smites their land and all the people, again continuously. I'm sure in the end the people get it and they come back to God. But I haven't gotten there yet.

Some people have told me that God was very patient with the people, and that He has strong boundaries and that is shown in the story of Jeremiah, but for me it's overwhelming violence and control. So I'd stop reading/find something else to read.

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever so I think people that say "Oh it's the old testament, don't worry about it" are kinda wrong, but also we are in a grace covenant, so God doesn't smite nations anymore. So I just have a really hard time justifying what I know of God in my personal life with this angry/discipline/smiting God.
