I think this hymn is based upon the KJV

Definitely a great hymn loved world wide! There is an high probability that the Swedenborg Bible published in 1837 was probably the origin Bible text for poem by Boberg with his other inspirations of course. Since this song has touched and has been added to by many, many participators in various countries it is pretty open for speculation. :clown: Hurts my head personally, to think that hard.

Have a blessed day!

@SheilaKathy this is a video with scripture and scenes and music that to this day moves my soul.

When I worked as a monitor on a Christian Board, I was going through a heart rendering divorce. I lost my business thus income, dropped out of being accepted for a PhD due to my emotional state from my ex-H physical abuse, and ended up loosing my home & two furbabies. I was battered, weary and frightened.

God lead me to this song as I searched for scripture on deliverance from those circumstances. I shared this testimony with you as I shared it then. I remember, how I cried out and how this song lulled me to a moment of peace within the embrace of the Holy Spirit.

It is an older video, not up to par with our standards, but the Celtic dedication reaches me each time, in remembrance of His deliverance.

It is a beautiful video, both in words and sound/mucic too, not to mention the photos!. Thanks so much for sharing it, I watched it twice actually. Once to read the quotes and the again to focus on the music. It was worth the time and effort to enjoy it twice, it is such a lovely piece. Any time you wish to share a video (or anyone else feels like doing so!) like this one or any other, please feel free to do so.

I know what you mean about how something like this can rescue you from despair @Recovery4Me. I have had times in my life of despair like that too. Abusive boyfriend, lost my home and my job in one day, had to place my hubby in a nursing home because he had a massive stroke, became homeless for 3 years.... Yup, been there, it is a horrible place to be in, were it not for God Who rescues us we'd have been doomed! Thank You, Lord.

Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

What are your thoughts upon this subject? Why do you think the wicked prosper?

Job 21 New Living Translation (NLT)

Job’s Seventh Speech: A Response to Zophar

21 Then Job spoke again:

2 “Listen closely to what I am saying.
That’s one consolation you can give me.
3 Bear with me, and let me speak.
After I have spoken, you may resume mocking me.

4 “My complaint is with God, not with people.
I have good reason to be so impatient.
5 Look at me and be stunned.
Put your hand over your mouth in shock.
6 When I think about what I am saying, I shudder.
My body trembles.

7 “Why do the wicked prosper,
growing old and powerful?
8 They live to see their children grow up and settle down,
and they enjoy their grandchildren.
9 Their homes are safe from every fear,
and God does not punish them.
10 Their bulls never fail to breed.
Their cows bear calves and never miscarry.
11 They let their children frisk about like lambs.
Their little ones skip and dance.
12 They sing with tambourine and harp.
They celebrate to the sound of the flute.
13 They spend their days in prosperity,
then go down to the grave in peace.
14 And yet they say to God, ‘Go away.
We want no part of you and your ways.
15 Who is the Almighty, and why should we obey him?
What good will it do us to pray?’
16 (They think their prosperity is of their own doing,
but I will have nothing to do with that kind of thinking.)

17 “Yet the light of the wicked never seems to be extinguished.
Do they ever have trouble?
Does God distribute sorrows to them in anger?
18 Are they driven before the wind like straw?
Are they carried away by the storm like chaff?
Not at all!

19 “‘Well,’ you say, ‘at least God will punish their children!’
But I say he should punish the ones who sin,
so that they understand his judgment.
20 Let them see their destruction with their own eyes.
Let them drink deeply of the anger of the Almighty.
21 For they will not care what happens to their family
after they are dead.

22 “But who can teach a lesson to God,
since he judges even the most powerful?
23 One person dies in prosperity,
completely comfortable and secure,
24 the picture of good health,
vigorous and fit.
25 Another person dies in bitter poverty,
never having tasted the good life.
26 But both are buried in the same dust,
both eaten by the same maggots.

27 “Look, I know what you’re thinking.
I know the schemes you plot against me.
28 You will tell me of rich and wicked people
whose houses have vanished because of their sins.
29 But ask those who have been around,
and they will tell you the truth.
30 Evil people are spared in times of calamity
and are allowed to escape disaster.
31 No one criticizes them openly
or pays them back for what they have done.
32 When they are carried to the grave,
an honor guard keeps watch at their tomb.
33 A great funeral procession goes to the cemetery.
Many pay their respects as the body is laid to rest,
and the earth gives sweet repose.

34 “How can your empty clichés comfort me?
All your explanations are lies!”

Deuteronomy 28:1-14 New Living Translation (NLT)
Blessings for Obedience
28 “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. 2 You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God:

3 Your towns and your fields
will be blessed.
4 Your children and your crops
will be blessed.
The offspring of your herds and flocks
will be blessed.
5 Your fruit baskets and breadboards
will be blessed.
6 Wherever you go and whatever you do,
you will be blessed.

7 “The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven!

8 “The Lord will guarantee a blessing on everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

9 “If you obey the commands of the Lord your God and walk in his ways, the Lord will establish you as his holy people as he swore he would do. 10 Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the Lord, and they will stand in awe of you.

11 “The Lord will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, blessing you with many children, numerous livestock, and abundant crops. 12 The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them. 13 If you listen to these commands of theLord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom. 14 You must not turn away from any of the commands I am giving you today, nor follow after other gods and worship them.
