Hello,

I just wondered if you as Christians sometimes struggle with the problem if ingratitude. H...

Sometimes. I think we all have to deal with that in life to some degree, at some point, either in ourselves or in others. If it is in me, I try to think of things each day during my prayer time(s) that I am grateful for. I can usually find quite a few.

As to others being ungrateful, I pray for them if I think of it. I try not to let it get me down, but if it does, and it does sometimes, I pray for me, I try to get my mind off of it and do other things. Easier said than done, I know, but one has to put some effort into worthwhile things in life!

Psalm 121
A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem.
1 I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth!

3 He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over you will not slumber.
4 Indeed, he who watches over Israel
never slumbers or sleeps.

5 The Lord himself watches over you!
The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.
6 The sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon at night.

7 The Lord keeps you from all harm
and watches over your life.
8 The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever.

New Living Translation of the Bible

I also wanted to share something that happened to me while I was out of town to attend my mother's funeral. The Lord stepped in and spoke to me, and He took my hand and let me hold onto His robe. He steadied me, gave me strength, blessed me with love through others (outside of my biological family), and allowed me act with grace and thankfulness in a very difficult, upsetting and scary situation.

Part of that was speaking to me through music, which He often does. Alone in my rental car the night before my mom's funeral wherein I had to ID her body and face down my sister, the Lord brought the lyrics from the following two songs into my mind: "Whom Shall I Fear" by, Chris Tomlin; and, "One Thing Remains" by, Jesus Culture. I faced down many demons while I was there, living and not. What I knew was that I was not alone, I was not to be afraid, that He and His angel armies were surrounding me, and that His love would never fail and He would never run out on me. So much more to the songs, but you can listen for yourself and take what you like to help you on your journey.

I'm very thankful to be at home now, four states away, phone tuned off for the first time in 3 years since I'm not on-call for my mom, and pouring out compassion and care for myself. Very grateful to have the relationship I do with God, and to know of and feel His presence in my life each and every day. I am truly blessed. VB

@SheilaKathy - Thank you for your kind words and encouragement, and for sharing your heart.

From Jesus Calling - I'm back to the chronological approach for now, so today's entry talks about relying upon God instead of ourselves.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Also -

"Do not let your hearts be troubles. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you." John 14:1-2

Hebrews 1:3
The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.

(Let us emulate His character)!

From Jesus Calling - January 28th

"As you gaze at Me through the eyes of your heart, you can see the world around you from My perspective. The fact that I am with you makes every moment of your life meaningful."

O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. Psalm 139:1-4
