@SeedMan I read and enjoyed all of the Narnia Series by C. S. Lewis and the space trilogy too. It has been a long time since I read them though, so my memories of them are not the best, since they have receded into the vast areas of forgetfulness that time creates as we age.

That Bonhoeffer translation you discovered sounds interesting. I might try to find it later. Who is the publisher? My pastor mentions him periodically. I would get lost in the other one too! LOL...

My latest reading adventure is a book called COME AWAY MY BELOVED by Frances J. Roberts. It is a collection of devotions, poetry and scripture, etc. I have the updated modern language edition (NKJV). It is published by Barbour
pubs barbourbooks.com . This is a classic, from what I gather, but is updated with today's language. LOVEIT!

Sadly, I borrowed the book from the library, however, (pause for a bit of Googling) Aha! by searching "Bonhoeffer Life Together" I find that it is published by Harper One, Copyright 1954 by Harper & Row...but wait, there's more! I found there's a PDF file listed of the whole book that matches the exact version I borrowed. Just a few clicks, and you're there! I praise God for those who've made their work public domain. Happy trails on your pilgrimage. (If I may borrow from Roy Rogers and John Bunyan). :-)

Just so you know... the estate of C.S. Lewis hasn’t made his works public domain.

New Zealand and Canada are only in year 1948 (Narnia was published 1950-56), and the US next year will be in 1923 (because of a 20 year across all titles extension that happened in 1998), and the UK is 70 years after the death of the author rather than publication date, which makes it even longer for most copyrights, but is fairly middling in this case. So you’ve got at least a couple years before The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe is public (in Canada & NZ), and another 25 years or thereabouts in the US.

What you read was a pirated copy. Same as any other pirated film, song, or book.

I found it! Thanks. I read a bit of the intro. Looks promising. I'll let you know more of what I think, once I have a chance to read it all.

What a shame, what happened to him. Tragic. It makes the book that much more valuable though.

I am happy when this thread is active and so, shows in my feed. Thank you for it. I have a lot to say but I don't talk about it because it upsets me. I write and delete so much stuff and a large percentage is about God but, there is so much fighting around the topic I just can't talk about it. My wonderful therapist, whom I'd classify as an ultra lib from hell, (she gets mad at me lol she thinks I'm a redneck but in reality, both of us are more centrist) is somehow reasonable about it? IDK, I love her. She wrote a book about "spiritual abuse," and was actually at one time a nun, or in the process. How good is that? We make a fine pair.

Found this wet and sooty from the fire... my mom has kept it in her wallet for years. Retyped it for her but she wanted the original back. So sharing it here & on my diary because I want to remember it/have it where I can find it:

"This prayer was found in the fiftieth year of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In 1505, it was sent from the Pope to Emperor Charles when he was going into battle.

Whoever shall read this prayer or hear it or keep it about themselves, shall never die a sudden death or be drowned, nor shall poison take effect on them; neither shall they fall into the hands of the enemy, or shall be burned in any fire or shall be overpowered in battle."

Bringing it back to her today.

A pastor told me they would go pray in a Mosque they would pray in a Buddhist temple they would not feel equipped to pray with a group of people with disabilities.

They are too diverse.

Who even says that?! It’s been multiple leaders of late.

I don’t get Christians. I love Jesus. But damn. Christians in the US are SUPER weird sometimes for all the wrong reasons.

I think I just needed to vent for a moment.

And ask for prayer on this.

Yeh, I asked our pastor in training what she thought causes mental illness. She did not know. She sort of questioned whether it might be something to do with evil spirits. I corrected that thought in a hurry (I hope!) but I can totally relate. There is just so LITTLE understanding sometimes. Praying for you and all of us here! Hang in there....
