General Christopher Robin (the Disney Movie) and feeling suicidal

You seem really worried about being recognized. Do you know why? Don't get me wrong, I'm all about anonymity --- that's why I'm here! :) But giving my first name to the person at the crisis line seems ok... There are lots of people with my name. Maybe a quick check in on why it scares you so much to ask questions?

In my country we usually give our first and last name on the phone and so did I... well I think i will not be so stupid a second time... but you never know.

His eating habits... depends... when he is feeling well he is a foody, like eating and cooking a lot, when he is feeling lousy he eats icecream, pralines, cupcakes and so on and cannot get healthful stuff like salads down... a few weeks ago he felt so lousy he could only get milkshakes down... but I know from what @Sweetpea76 says that her vet has that worse. I would go mad if I was @Sweetpea76.

I’m just glad he gets down anything at all when he is feeling that bad. He is in pure survival mode. His overall health is fine (cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar levels), so he is no worse for the wear. He is also seeing some kind of medical doctor all the time, so his health is supervised. It’s a better alternative than not eating at all... which he sometimes can’t eat for days either. I keep it all in perspective. In the grand scheme of life and our circumstances, if all he can eat is milkshakes, then so be it. He’ll eat better when he’s feeling better.

My vet has so many injuries that I’m just happy he’s alive. He almost wasn’t.

I hope that I did not offend anybody who has trouble eating.
I was just talking about my feelings and I do know that they might not make any sense but I feel like this nevertheless.
I am not ashamed of Vet. I am proud of Vet but I feel ashamed when i think of discussing this with others.

My culture used to be poorer than the US - especially the east. I cannot know if the person on the phone line will come from the East or from the West. So people have a low opinion about grown-ups who do not eat their food.
Also I know that in the past of our country it was seen as a great shame if a soldier had gut issues. They had something called “stomach units“ and it was seen as a great shame. Today we do not have them anymore...

In my country we have another idea of manliness then you do. I think a man who says “I do not eat my salad. Eating salad is unmanly and typical of a sissy. I want a beer“ that would be okay... but a man who cannot get his salad down.

I, personally, do not think lowly of people who have gut issues... that would make no sense.
Personally I also thinks that the man who cannot get his salad down has probably a much higher IQ than the man who thinks a salad is unmanly...

It is just that I am afraid of being judged by people who do not understand.

I am very happy your Vet is alive and with you @Sweetpea76. I hope I did not say anything offensive.

It's not about being manly. It's about PTSD and it's symptoms. Just yesterday my guy (combat veteran) said "I don't feel like eating today" when I asked if he ate anything yet. It's not an issue because I know he'll eat when he feels better emotionally and physically.

I know that... but there is a difference between knowing something and feeling something... but it is good to know we are not alone with that.
