Can we go back to the "Why now?" question for a bit? I think the "October Surprise" thing, as a tactic, for a political party, is disgusting, but at least it's understandable. They are concerned about 'winning' not the good of the country. I get that. This does not, quite, seem to be that.

I've never looked at the wiki-leaks web site until about a couple hours ago. I was curious about what their agenda might be. They claim to be basically opposed to secrets. There are pages of stuff, categorized files of stuff, on a variety of US topics. Lots of Hilary Clinton topics. (Another site I looked at said that Assange considers Hillary Clinton to be a personal enemy.) There's not a lot of leaked Russian documents. Pretty much none I could easily find. I'm wondering if that's because they're harder to hack, have less people willing to risk stealing files, or just a less interesting target. Also a shortage of leaked Trump stuff. So, maybe they're interested in shining light in dark corners. But maybe they aren't equally interested in all corners or maybe all corners aren't equally accessible, or maybe something else?

If they had all this stuff on Clinton, and they were just interested in truth and justice, seems to me it would have been better to trot it out during the primaries and give her a chance to get beat then, and give Bernie Sanders, who's been questioning things like her connections with big banks all along, a better shot at the job. I mean, if you're offended by her hypocrisy and connections, wouldn't you want her to not be the candidate at ALL?

I haven't found anything on who leaked the Trump video. Obviously SOMEONE knew that existed for years. I suppose you could consider that an "October Surprise", except it's not exactly a surprise. It's just a more extreme example of his level of class. If you're going to support him through rape allegations, why would this make any difference? It MIGHT have made a difference during the primaries.

I'm wondering what dog it is Julian Assange has in this hunt. I would imagine he'd like to be able to leave the Ecuadorian embassy and avoid extradition to either the US or Sweden. Does this get him any closer to that, somehow? Does any of this have anything to do with hacking of the DNC, or attempts to hack into state voting systems?

I've been looking for that story and haven't been able to find it. All I've been able to find is a few stories about evacuating family members and non-essential personnel to Pensacola. Where can I find more information on this?

On the issue of California allowing illegal residents to vote. Apparently you don't have to be a legal resident to get a DL in CA. There is a provision for labeling the license's of people here illegally so they WON'T be able to vote, but there's a concern that if this isn't done properly they'll be able to vote. I guess I'm having a little trouble with justifying someone to get a DL when they actually aren't supposed to be here at ALL, but this measure doesn't quite seem to provide illegal immigrants with the clear right to vote.

Anyone going to watch the debate tonight? I was thinking of skipping it because I have heard more than enough and it feels like watching a train wreck happen. I just don't need that in my brain.

I'm begining to reconsider. I feel a weird pull to want to watch because I want to see someone stand up to Trump face to face and say "enough." I want to see someone say this is wrong. I want validation. I want to see that someone hears me.

I think I share something in common with some Trump supporters. Clinton is flawed, but because of my personal pain about what "the other side" has done, what Trump and his surrogates are willing to overlook, I feel a pull to overlook the flaws in the other candidate and support her just because she will send a message to those that didn't hear me. So many Trump supporters have written and said the same about supporting Trump.

I am personally trying to find another path for myself through this election to hold boundaries against what is terrible and yet not seek revenge. I don't want to become like that which I despise. Love drives out hate, not more hate.

The internal situation within the RNC (a small portion of the GOP) and in the GOP itself is a mess. It's been a mess for awhile, it's just reaching new levels.

I have communication from state party GOP leaders that it is expected that more not-surprising-but-still-very-damaging video will be released before the debates tonight and later this week. People who have been defending Trump are now very open within the GOP that there alleged victims of sexual assault by Trump that are expected to come forward in the next few days. I say alleged with much hesitation because while Trump hasn't been yet convicted of sexual assault, he himself has confessed to it on the video... Also, at this time, so much could change and so many rumors are flying I'm waiting to see what happens.

The next 48 hours will be interesting.

And, just supposing, what if they can come up with something to arrest him for in the next month? What then? Or, maybe worse, what if he were to get elected and THEN someone comes forward with something they can arrest him for? Is rape a "high crime"?

Ted Cruz is asking why are people waiting so long to release all this info and he is calling for worse tape to be released from the filming of the Apprentice, but the person who owns it is a friend of Trump. So they won't. Not yet.

Ben Carson, Matt Walsh and so many others are saying there is other tape outside of that show.

I'm annoyed because Carsonand Cruz both cutenwbtly endorse Trump, know there is other tape out there, and are almost victim blaming people for not releasing it sooner. I have no doubt the wait was for less than honorable reasons but ugh, they knew of it and STILL endorsed him. So they expect the Americans they represent to be different?

Gosh, I hope Americans will not be so double minded and corrupt.

For the people who are still supporting him because they think he's on the side of the working class, or their class, what ever it is, the deal with him is there's HIM and there's everyone else. There IS no "us".

Say what you will about Hillary, I find her a comforting presence these days. She's kind of like the mother I wish I had. Chelsea sure seems to have turned out great.

So, Rump will be going ballistic and Hillary will just be looking at him with a calm smile on her face, ready to zing him at any moment.
