Anyone else here into comic books? Of any sort. I'm 100% certain there are. I've been into them since I was a little kid, but could never really afford them. Or know where to buy them. But lately I've been building up my collection. Although, I prefer graphic novels. Single issues don't cut it for me. I want the whole story! Haha. Of the two big companies, I think I like Marvel more in the long run, but I do have a soft spot for Batman (of course!) My favorites so far have been Batman: Hush- it was so engrossing! The twists and turns. Amazing. From the Marvel side, I really liked House of M. That was a really solid story.

I digress, who is/was your favorite superhero? It could also be The Tick, Ninja Turtles, Darkwing Duck, Power Rangers, whoever! I was always big on the Black Suit Spider-Man, Daredevil, and The Punisher, and the X-Men. :)

I'm not a major fan myself but I do enjoy the odd read.

However, I am in a happy relationship with something of a marvel addict - one of his favourite would be DeadPool. He has a crazy collection of comics, cards, artworks etc. He kinda hates DC though B-)

I personally think Watchmen is brilliant

I'm not a comic fanatic, but I have a friend who is a massive one. He's forced me to read some good things over the years. I think my favourite is Alan Moore's run of 'Saga of the Swamp Thing' back in the 80's.. It seriously changed my concept of what comics, and stories in general, could be. It's a horror comic, but some of the best reading I've ever done. Another favourite is Sandman by Neil Gaiman. Those are also horror stories, but once again, they changed my ideas about narratives. My guilty pleasure is the Conan comics from back in the 70's, and Aqua-man from the New 52 lineup by DC.

It strikes me that everything I've written about (except Conan) is DC. I do like some marvel comics too, like X-Men and Hulk, but I find that when it comes to my particular genre, DC comes in with better writing over all.

Yeah, definitely. I don't think you can go wrong with Alan Moore. I feel that he's writes some of the best stories and they're kinda timeless. Nothing to feel guilty about for Conan. :) And Aqua-man? His name doesn't come up nearly enough.

I agree. DC's storytelling is much tighter and not as confusing as the Marvelverse.

Thanks for the replies so far, guys:)

Nightwing is the coolest, the sequential art in it is crazy dynamic. :3

Reading manga takes up a significant amount of my free time. I like the comedy/slice of life ones, they take my mind off of crappy stuff.

My sister is kind of a comic book artist, I've gotten to meet Becky Cloonan and Ross Campbell at conventions when helping at her booth. Ross Campbell is super nice, his female character designs are the best.

Alan Moore is godly him, Neil Gaiman and Tim Seeley are my favorite comic authors though the last one is a personal friend so I admit bias there ;)

I've been a marvel, and DC's old offshoot vertigo comics junkie as long as I can remember. I got into Manga my freshman yr of high school and Heavy Metal around the same time

Marvel yes, DC less so. I have a fondness for Spider-man because of the humor and because of it was my first comic. X-Men for lots of different reasons but largely for the fact that a lot of the characters have had trauma (as has Peter actually) and experienced at least social exclusion and over-come this. Mostly I'm just a geek at heart and love escapism in everything that can capture and/or hold my attention. I like graphic novels and manga too and am always interested in reading more, but it's expensive and I want collections not one or two! I'd like to purchase arks!

Did you know all the major comic publishers have all current and a lot of past comics available on tablets and smart phones through apps?

The cost is decent on old stuff a buck or two most issues and the ones I use all offer packages of arcs or graphic novels compilations usually a bit cheaper.

I pick up an iTunes card every couple of months and go nuts catching up on my series so I can read several at once and they're always a little cheaper when they're a month or more old.

LuckyDuck: Awesome. I didn't think about Calvin & Hobbes until now. They have a very cool friendship.

EternallyChildish: I agree completely. Nightwing is probably my favorite DC hero. Everything about him is cool. His suit, acrobatics, history. His fighting style really turns panels into something just out of this world. It's always cool to hear about artists. I wish her the best. Keep us posted if she releases anything. :)

Randombits: I guess I'll check Tim Seeley out if he has some stuff floating around. Support the arts! :p And that iTunes idea doesn't sound bad. I could have it on-the-go. Although I love physically having the comic in my hand. It's an awesome feeling.

Kas_Can_Fly: I'm the same way, Kas. Nothing like a nice comic to take me away for a while. Yes, the price is always a big factor. I want the most bang for my buck and Amazon's list of options helps. I picked up Batman: The Long Halloween for 9 bucks plus $5 shipping. I think that's a steal. :) I like Spider-Man's style. It's not all dark all the time. He kinda has fun with it. And on the X-Men- that's the greatest thing about it. I feel that we're all X-Men here. We have our everyday struggles and adversities, dealing with certain stigmas, but we're also strong. Gifted. We look out for each other. Do you have a favorite X-Man? I'm partial to Nightcrawler and Cyclops. :)

Wow. Thank you guys again so much for vibing with me. Hugs all around. (If you allow me.)

My husband got me comic rack on my tablet and gets comics online. Right now In am reading iZombie, Ms. Marvel and Ghost.

I just finished Lock And Key. It was so amazing. If you read comics at all then it is a MUST.

Right now my fave superhero is Captain Marvel. I think her name is Carol. I am loving her right now.
