Before my PTSD became full blown, I had returned to graduate school. I quit for a while, but decided to enroll in a course. It was really difficult and a change in my life circumstances derailed me. I really thought I was going to have to withdraw.

Even though I was behind in assignments, my husband encouraged me to contact the professor and work it out. Of course, I assumed the worse and am anxious to even make contact. My T also encouraged me, so I contact the prof and he was very understanding. We set a deadline for the submission of the work I had missed and I worked really hard to catch up. Received my grades today and I have an A (barely).

Now it is time to submit my thesis topic and get it approved.

Its just nice to finish something with some degree of success.

Hi Anni,

Your question is not intrusive and I really appreciate your interest.

I am getting a masters in Criminal Justice, with a focus on Homeland Security. It is a good match with my professional background and work my company is doing. The title of the thesis is The Deterrent Effect of CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) on Anti-Social Behavior at Secondary Schools.

A piece of the research that surprised me was the effect on bullying the devices had, along with many other behaviors. In light of what people have written about the effects of bullying on PTSD, it has given me new insight as to the importance of reducing this type of behavior.

I probably put in more details than necessary, but it is good to have some interest in something again.

Hee- NO, please do tell as much as you're comfortable with-seriously. I'm genuinely interested in this from a sociological perspective, and of course one can't touch on any of this soley on a macro scale psychologically? Not sure about that, though so am fascinated, really. I really AM convinced there's an ability on the part of adminstrative circles to somehow influence group behaviour-as an intentional device would certainly benefit say, a school in that it's social services would be much less severely taxed, for instance, if not from a purely humane perspective. I also would have thought the basic 'outsider' mentality which grows out of bullying/social ostracizing and can develop into something terribly dangerous all by itself, incubated in the 'correct' circumstances, would be affected (made less likely to happen?). Hee! I don't know why I'm rambling on in this manner since you're more than well versed on all this, and anything I'm referring to would be more an interesting ( if fortunate ) , unintended result of security cameras, I think? Having stuck my pseudo-informed neck out thus far, however, I really am interested. :) I'd never put the possibilites together, 'the system' being something I classify in my head as an after-wards, punitive result of behaviour, not vaguely associated with a proactive, preventative approach. New thought, and makes the thesis even more intriguing to me-so if anything you'll find yourself probably ducking the thread.... .

I might not have been terribly clear, because concept-to-paper isn't always for me, but hopefully some of 'it' leaked through somewhere. Thanks for taking the time to get into it, too.

ALL the best! xo
