I need to find another therapist as mine is not "in network" and another psychiatrist. I tried calling my insurance and they tell me to go online and look, but they don't show any psychiatrists and I would like them to be in the same place at least. I also want the therapist to be female as I am more comfortable talking to one about certain things. After looking at all the names, how do you figure which one? What determines what feels right?

Also, years ago when I started in therapy the last one they never said what kind. Like the CBT or whatever I just went in and talked and went over things you know whatever. Had a small group therapy kind of thing each week too. Then when that therapist left I started with another one in the office and she started actually walking back through some repressed memories and had one good session and then I was told since it was a "free" or subsidized that I was not serious enough or suicidal or whatever and they had to let me go.

So how do you know what kind of therapy would work best for you? I'm thinking that maybe remembering some of it may be good, in that remembering front of a therapist may be better than remembering on my own. I don't know.

I used psychology today's site to find an in network therapist last month. You can search for people who take your specific insurance. I then cross referenced on my provider's site since the info isn't always correct on pt. Some people also seem to check everything. I linked over to their business websites to get a better idea of their methodology. Days of work but worth it. Went from 70 potential to 3 therapists to interview.

Oh and suggest somatic experiencing approach. DBT is useful for daily survival. I'd stay away from CBT. Definitely you want someone who knows emdr even if they don't use it all the time. And definitely a trauma specialist.
