Do not share the same intellect as you. By intellect I do not mean PhDs or all the graduated people. I am not discriminating anyone here based on education.

Here is a problem I have been noticing each day of my life. I have not many people with whom I can have deep conversations with. Most people just don't care about the depth of things and are living life as it is and don't care about exploring the purpose.

While on the other hand, I've always wanted to understand the purpose of my life. The more I learn the less I feel I know. But now I feel that there are not many people out there who want to explore and look at things differently.

Am I just wasting my time in this search???

I do not think you're wasting your time at all. I like having deep conversations too, it's difficult when no one else around you feels the same. I have the same problem because of the place I live in, all they seem to be interested in doing is going to nightclubs and getting drunk. I'm not into that, never have been, never will be. Maybe there are more people on here you can have deep conversations with? ;)

Phew!! Thanks @Cj77 , you saved me from all night of misery and sleep. I thought I was looking for so much but I just can't connect with people who can't look past shallow things.

I know how difficult it is to feel everyone else around you is shallow and not interested in the deeper meanings in life. I have been philosophically minded from a young age :) feel free to message me any time

You're not alone, Jass, as you can see from Cj77's responses. I'm the same way, though since PTSD I can't really follow long conversations about anything in depth, I also wonder about the deeper purpose of life. Maybe you can think of an interesting thread to start? I'll bet you get many responses.

@hodge: thanks :hug:s. I'm chasing after so many dreams but each time I achieve that dream, I'm craving for another challenge yet I wonder why am I going after all this when deeper meaning of life is missing and I still haven't discovered my purpose of life.

I've struggled with finding people like that as well...seriously, I don't care about what celebrity is doing what with whom, which football team is leading, or what happened on XYZ TV show (which I definitely don't watch, not having TV channels). How about something deeper and more real?? For me, the issue is also partly my demographic: married 30-something female who doesn't have or want to have children. I can find a hundred women who are happy to "bond" over kid stuff - schools, sports, whatever - but a REAL conversation? Few and far between.

Btw, I'm still trying to find my purpose as well. Thought I had it 9 years ago, and it fell through (enough to make it clear that it wasn't my purpose)...and I still haven't found a new one. Hodge is right; I think we have to create small purposes when we can't find our larger one.
