Does anyone se experience the constant anxiety that creates Luke a pit feeling in your guts? Worse when close to menstruation...

Can only equate it to huge amounts of adrenaline? How do I make it stop?

more empathy, iceberg. i never noticed a link to menstruation, but i strongly believe it has a direct connection to my anger issues. one of the early shrinks who guided me to anger management equated adrenaline to an all natural speed and called me, "a speed freak whose dealer lives in your head and deals for free." i don't know about the "free" part. the physical and emotional costs were outrageous, but the further i get down my recovery road, the more i agree with him on the addiction angle. never mind that i wanted to rip him a new orifice at the time.

Yes, it's horrible...it reminds me of getting ready for a track a nd field race waiting for the gun to go off so I can start the race but it never does

One thing that I have found that helps is deep belly breathing. It triggers the vagus nerve to relax the fight and flight response that’s going on in our brain and triggering all kinds of things in our body. I try to do deep breathing often during the day and whenever I need to calm down. Here’s a simple one.
Breathe (and fill your belly) for four counts
Hold for four counts
Breathe out slow slowly for eight counts
That last part when you’re breathing out is when the trigger happens in your body to calm down. Hope it helps.

Repeat it a few times until you feel your body relaxing

IME by USING it. Whether it’s exercise, or at something real… burning off all the chemicals swirling in my blood is the only way I’ve ever been able to step back.
Thanks for sharing Friday. My son goes for a bike ride. Although he’s 26, he can’t drive so that’s his only form of transportation. It’s also his release. He goes to nature as his safe place, to parks and nature preserves. The bike ride gets the poisonous energy out and the surroundings calm his body and mind.
