Damn Dentist

Got two crowns the other day, well... the first appointment which is the big one, all the grinding of the teeth down for the crown to sit over the tooth. No worries, the pain of the teeth went within the first 24hrs. What is killing me is the left side of my mouth where the assistant had the sucker in, and was pulling it hard against the side of my mouth like it was a leverage or something.

Two days on, the side of my mouth feels like I got punched or something... damn dentists. Wonder why I hate going to the dentist... yuk! Great dentist... rough assistant.

Been there, done that......more than once! I can relate to the mouth/jaw pain afterward. It does go away, but it stinks while it lasts.

I should have got one done at a time, but I figured two was ok... I believe he has another to do on the right side as well after these are done and recovered. I've got one crown already...

Ouch. The dental work wasn't too bad. After 8 months of ongoing treatment, I am more relaxed.

BUT, the thing I really hate is having impressions taken. Almost every visit involves at least one impression. Yesterday was two, top and bottom. As well as it being claustrophobic, I have to control the panic and find it difficult to breathe. I also have (contrary to what you may think) a small mouth, so putting the awful thing in is a struggle. Today I have a sore scrape on one side of my mouth and a bruise on the other. Urgh

Anthony, it sounds like they brutilised you! Not a good assistant.
I have to have an enormous amount done and am putting it off. Also grinding related.
At least it is over and done with now and you will be grateful for that in a day or two.

I would maybe tell the dentist about the bruised mouth next time you go.

Yer, they did that for me yesterday... hadn't had that done before. Uncomfortable was a good word, trying not to swallow too much to move it, even though flem was building in my throat. Ahhh!

At least you got there.

I dislike dentists almost to the extent of it being a phobia.
If they would do just what I want them to when I get there, I would be fine - I think.
It’s the waiting that gets me.

I tried to explain about situation and dissociating but I just felt like a nut job. If there was just some way I could explain what I need… But they are always so busy.

I even took my sister along with me but she was worrying so much about me that you’d have thought it was her going in to see the dentist.
