I'm so sorry this happened to you! What a betrayal.. However, if it were me I'd like to confront her maybe even just through email so, you can feel closure. idk.. such a tough situation, she could actually be putting you in danger by disclosing that info....What if the perp found out?? :( so sorry you are going through this!

#6 More info needed by OP.
Maybe I missed something on this thread. Have read it but maybe my brain isn't working too well.
But still no answer's how OP found out about breach.
Till then, very emotive topic which probably upsets a lot of members here for obvious reasons.
No self harm or harm to other's mentioned. Client/professional law's would seem to apply but OP has not disclosed country so who knows.
As @joeylittle suggested more info may lead to better & more support.

Ok, so, there are two things going on as far as the therapist divulging info.
1) The therapist reported to social services - that may or may not have been appropriate. We don't have enough info. However...
2) The therapist share the information with a friend - We all agree this was not appropriate.

At this point, the OP has stated she has canceled her next session and is going to let things settle. This is a reasonable choice and it seems like we should support her in this instead of continuing to speculate on the therapist's actions. The therapist is not important, right now, the OP is. I am glad she has an appointment coming up with a psychiatrist. I, for one, am wondering how she is doing?

hi all,

I am 19 and away from home at university. On Wednesday I disclosed to my therapist that I had been sexually ab...

In my country the t has to report the police if there is suspicion that the abuser is abusing someone else at the moment.
You are 19. Not a child. She tell her friend who tell your mom? What? What?

Report her and find new t

Sorry that this happened to you

@Hope1969 not so sure the OP is correct about the law in UK. If she is correct & knew this then she would have an expectation the t would report it to Police.
What t apparently did is inform a friend of OP mother. But anyway still hoping OP is ok.

Edit to add : Sorry @Hope1969 did not get your whole post just the quotes. Then your text appeared. ??
