Life Begins
(Values)
Henry Miller

Life only begins when one drops below the surface, when one gives up the struggle, sinks and disappears from sight.
.......................................The Wisdom of the Heart

Rob T.

Rob T., It's been great seeing and reading your posts throughout the forum. No crap, I've really enjoyed reading your posts. You ask questions and chances are this openmind will help you along your way.

I've even clicked on your name to see your user profile and it states, "I am a man working on PTSD." I love it.

Trusting you're strong and you're going to be alright in your healing and it's process. Really glad you found the forum too. There are a lot of great people, as well as, experience and knowledge throughout.

Now, Rob, Did you lose your temper or self-control reading what I've written above or below?

Bc, for many yrs. now, I've been told things like: "there's no flies on you." (Another words: little to no bullsh't.) And, I've been told, "you speak from the heart." While some appreciate this about me, it frightens and irks the crap out of still so many. It actually helped me, in the past, to notice I was getting lost and sick again with my PTSD, and that I hadn't healed completely, when I saw with my own eyes My BS and pretense. One of my favorite songs is 'Tears of a Clown.' Don't really know why I've shared a little about me too, as quite frankly you might not be at all interested. Aren't risks great?

Anyhow, You have a good day too Rob and I do hope for you the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or self-control.

I'm certainly not there yet, but still progressively moving in that direction.

I'm now in one of those silly, most embarrassed moods, oh well.

Again, Truly wishing the best for you, Rob T.

The Non-Conformist
(Values)
Todd Tinkham

In the conformist wilderness of our day, I will eagerly do whatever non-conforming activities exist, and do them well, not for any other reason than to set myself free from this stale-smelling shelter called civilization. So, if my daughter says, "Dad, let's climb a tree," I do not say, "I'm too old for that." I climb and, once up, realize that I was too young to have been so grounded. And if I ask, "Who will come with me to watch the sun rise?" And, one by one, my friends decline, saying, "I do not have the time," or "I have seen so many, they are all alike," then I will go alone to a quiet place and watch the sun burst out of the ocean and splatter the sky with colors of day. And watching, I will feel those same colors within me - and later use them to paint, with delicate strokes, the places I go and the people I meet.

CHILDREN.........

Play for Growth
(One-Liners)
Ashley Montagu

In the early formative years, play is almost synonymous with life. It is second only to being nourished, protected and loved. It is a basic ingredient of physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth.

Want Little
(One-Liners)
Surya Prem

Teach children to want little while they are little.

Saintliness is Out of Reach
(One-Liners)
Kurt Hahn

Saintliness is out of reach for most adults, even for bishops, so I do not think we should expect youngsters to be saints - capable of living up to their ideals merely through the strength of their conscience.

Growing Up
(Journey)
Aldo Leopold

When I call to mind my earliest impressions, I wonder whether the process ordinarily referred to as growing up is not actually a process of growing down; whether experience, so much touted among adults as the thing children lack, is not actually a progressive dilution of the essentials by the trivialities of living.

A Race With Old Age
(Leadership)
Author Unknown

A race with Old Age - long and hard with detours and distractions. But a Navajo tells her children to run towards the dawn every morning - to choose the most difficult trail because only the path that is long develops into a life worth running. A strong life. And if these young people should run well, then all good things in mind and spirit will become theirs.

one for going on hope

“Fear not your enemies, for they can only kill you.
Fear not your friends, for they can only betray you.
Fear only the indifferent, who permit the killers and betrayers
to walk safely on the earth.”
