New Here
Hey, not sure if this is the right place to post this.
I have been in several "therapy" and "counseling" meetings.
But I have never been able to talk. Never been one to tell them even what happened.
I was diagnosed with PTSD after telling the "basics" to a therapist 2 years ago.
But I still wouldn't talk, whatsoever.
Every "professional" I been to just medicated me.
Sorry, but I am not one for medication. I do not do well with the medications. I have been on quite a few. They all make me a zombie, irritable, can't sleep, etc. etc. etc. I do not like them.

I am more open to talking now, since I have learned my family is so supportive and helpful towards this.

I feel like I can go back to therapy.
-What options are there for "treatment" ??
Other then medication :)
Just want help, don't know if "professionals" will give it to me.

I read online about options but it is so confusing. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum! Maybe a first step is to look at the articles here and read and connect with others that have PTSD. I do not do well with medication or with therapy because of my past. However, you will also see alot of people here that have found a balance with both. An open mind at this point might be helpful. I am not a therapist, so I can just tell you the forum has helped me to learn more and move forward. Good luck!:)

Hi Heath,
I do take medication, but can also understand the inablility to talk.
I have got round this by using EMDR when I say very little, but have found it to be very effective ( although extremely hard work) and also by using the written word.

I have written stuff that I want to say and can't and handed it to my T to read. On other occasions I have sent him pages by e-mail to read, before a session. I asked him first and he does not mind at all. He was intrigued that I can write so much, but is very happy with the arrangement. I think he did not realise that I actually have so many words in me.

So, I would say, don't let a fear of speech put you off. Any decent therapist will understand and help you round it.
Don't give up!

Regards
Lucy x
