That sounds terrible and I can see why that would be traumatizing. Yes, I think parents should be told about this and should be asking for anesthetic options. That makes me wonder why they don't. Geez. It's medieval out there sometimes.
I have PTSD from several things but stretching my uretha as a toddler and pre schooler is most definitely where it began. The pain of the sounds being used is the worst pain I know of. This was the early 60's. No numbing no anesthesia. About every 3 months until I was 7 or so.
