Books

I am comforted by knowing other people have suffered and I study how they dealt with it as inspiration. But it's generally not movies. It's history books.

I can't handle movies with rape scenes or hopeless and bloody situations. They will repeat in my head for a few weeks. It disturbs me too much.

I LOVE Terminator 1 & 2!!!!! I watch them over and over, I love the survival theme.

Also, I love robots.

Yes totally. Love horror, thrillers, ghosties, hack and slash, disasters, serial killers, watch it all. Have some trouble with rape scenes but if there's retribution for it I hang on. I just can't watch animals get hurt.

I avoid because I am very sensitive. Sometimes a movie is enough to make me go steepness for a week.

Yes, sometimes, however, I am so empathic that certain crime re-enactments disturb me on a deep level for months and even years.

Oh boy! I love me a good disaster movie!

Armageddon
12 Monkeys-"Drugs! Know your doses!" ;-)
The 5th Element
Brazil
Signs
Deep Impact
The Day After Tomorrow
I am Legend
Independence Day
The Host-S.Korean
War of the Worlds
The hokier the better! Usually. ;-)
Religious or War movies are totally out, no go, I won't bother.

I forgot a good 5 or 10 I am sure.
;-)

Very interesting question! :)

Growing up, I always loved to watch horror movies. I think I was trying to find something more scary than my own dreams. The movies never came close.

Now, I still love horror and disaster movies! I am a HUGE movie person...

(But.... I avoid anything with rape since it triggers me.)

This list is pretty much identical to mine. Lately I've been on a total rampage for... well... rampage movies. Anything apocalyptic - anything where the world is ending or there are big natural disasters (like Twister and Volcano) and I especially love the Michael Crichton-esque virus movies.... either man made viruses that turn everyone into zombies or whatever (Resident Evil style) or just a good old fashioned pandemic.

I think it has to do with the idea that in those scenarios (no matter how far-fetched), ever single person is in the same boat, so to speak. I like the idea that all your other baggage would make no difference because everyone on earth would have something bigger and more important in common.... solidarity sounds so nice, even if it is only for a week until the world blows up.....

I voted no because movies with violence in them can sometimes trigger the PTSD, depending on what it is. I have had a few bad experiences so I don't get near horror movies or even most action movies.
