Hello

Made few posts today. Feel like its ok to open more to share.

Do you wake up with bruises or blood?

I wake from hitting myself when my hands collide against the wall or my face. I had a mystery bloody eye, busted lip, deep scratch across body and arms, bruises along my legs, and even plucked eye brows.

Again, doctor does not have much to say except move my bed into safe zone without objects.

This has been going on for about one year and i no longer am engaged because she said "violence is unacceptable".

There must be a way out of this. Waking up with bruises I am used to by now but when i pluck my eyebrows i have to explain to others... which only reminds me what i did to myself without knowing.

Is there a way of wearing some kind of gloves which would make it harder for you to pluck during the night, and softer on yourself should you punch yourself? I would find a different doctor who is a bit more understanding that this is not a nice situation for you to be in, and that your not doing it on purpose! and provide some better support. I have a habit of just running from my bed and hitting out, so know what it's like to have to think about room adjustments- but hoping to be sent for a sleep analysis- maybe that's something they could offer you?

I got referred to sleep study and waiting currently.

My blanket has no filling.
Pillow cases wear down from head grinding into them.

I know how it feels to see feathers scattered and the exhaustion of having to clean up.

Why is it so taboo that nobody talks about these issues in daily life. I feel more human online then out in public on my feet.

I have to keep my fingernails short with acrylic nails on them, so they are not so sharp, as I clench my fists tight while asleep. I would wake with deep nail marks in palm of hands and scratches elsewhere. I get compliments on my polished nails now, which is a nice bonus though not many people know why I am actually getting them done. I used to have short hair as well as I would pull it while sleeping and when anxious when I was awake. Thankfully I have learned strategies to calm while awake and can now grow it back out. I do have a hole in my wall above my headboard, which I have no idea how it happened. I think I may have thrown my hands up while asleep and in a nightmare. Sometimes I wake with bruises on my arms and legs, but this is decreasing.

I have a tendency to scratch myself in my sleep. I wake up with specific areas I've been scratching, now almost raw. This is new for me. I've already had sleep study, and am waiting for a follow-up with my specialist.

I don't know if my scratching showed up that night. I didn't bring it up. I find it embarrassing, and haven't told any of my care team.

Well, according to people that saw me sleep, I sleep restlessly and turn wildly a lot.

it hasn't really led to bruises, but I hardly bruise.

One thing though is that somewhere between actually sleeping and the process of falling asleep I often scratch a lot which leads to plenty of blood spots on my bed.

I've done some research on this because I'm a *thrasher*, and it sounds like many of you are, too. Sometimes head injures can cause people to thrash because they can't achieve the sleep paralysis state, which would normally keep them (and their bed partner) safe from acting out their dreams.

So now I'm curious - how many of you have had head injuries?
