Does Anyone Know The Effects Of Caffeine On Ptsd Symptoms?

I personally can't tolerate it. I don't drink it, don't have a coffee maker, and I order tea at Starbucks.

However, I agree with Evergreen, Every so often, if I'm waiting in the lounge for my car to be serviced or something like that, I'll have a little cup, and I enjoy the lift.

But I know I can't handle it on a regular basis.

I have just commited to cutting back to one cup of coffee per morning. I am going to try to get caffeine out of my daily system. It accumulates.

I mostly stick to one cup of coffee a day. However, there have been days where I drink up to 6 when I've got huge deadlines or a big exam coming and have to pull consecutive all nighters. I've not really noticed any effects on my PTSD, though I do have heart condition (not really serious, just annoying), that is slightly affected by it so I try very hard to cut back. Although, sometimes coffee can calm me down if I am feeling really stressed. That could be a psychological thing though, I've always been a big coffee drinker so maybe the "I need coffee now!" thought makes me calm down after I've had a cup.

I should add that when I was younger I drank it by the pot! Pot after pot like it was going out of style. This was before Coffee was popular by today's standards. (It's always been popular)

But I think what happened is that I had too much of a good thing. In my mind 20"s my body couldn't handle it anymore. I would get a all kinds of crazy side effects that were kind of scary. I had to eliminate it from my diet.

I still enjoy the taste, and it's a sweet little treat when I get to sneak a cup at opportune unexpected moments. But I can never go back to drinking it regularly.

Well I quit drinking it for a while. I started back up, I enjoy it. Everything in moderation is a good thing I think. Coffee does'nt do anything for me. I do not get a lift. I used to. But I am also drinking smaller cups of coffee. it was an interesting experiment. Thanks for the idea.

I am out of half and half which is a creamer I love for my coffee. I was out of it on the day I commited to cut back to one cup a day. I used milk instead. It is nowhere near as good. So instead of drinking one cup per day, it has been one half cup. :)

I did take medicine last night for a tension headache, and that has caffeine.

Still, I am happy with the improvement. I have to remember to drink more water!!!!
