Does Anyone Sleep With The Door Shut/locked?

If anyone is in the apt. I have to sleep with my door locked and something up against it or I can't sleep very much and when I do have terrible nightmares of things that have happened to me. One my father coming in my room, two my best friend that got killed by around mate in 04 and nightmares of being very physically abused by my step mom. When I was about 10 I shared a bedroom next to theirs with my half sister but I had a makeshift sleeping area in my closet that I booby trapped as much as possible so to wake up before any abuse and pray to just disappear. When found I would cover my ears in a sitting position because of sensory overload a form of autism before getting kicked or pulled out by my hair. I have also been robbed at gunpoint so sometimes that nightmare triggers in too as a second one. So sick of the nightmares reliving the trauma's over and over again. Door locked and exit strategy in place.

It's been 10 years for me not being able to sleep with the doors not being shut and locked this includes the closet door. I can not even force myself to sleep if they are unlocked or open.

I sleep with my door shut (and locked). If I hear the sound, I often think my childhood abuser has somehow broken in even though he doesn't know where I live. I start pacing around the room until I can ignore it the best I can and hide under my blanket and fall asleep. It creeps me out. I don't like it being pitch black, yet it is the only way I can sleep.

I need the door to be shut and locked, with a small light on, and a fan for background noise.... then begins the battle to fall asleep, not have nightmares, stay asleep, not sleepwalk, not throw/destroy things in my sleep, etc. Bleh!!!!

I would never be able to sleep behind a locked door. I need to know I can't be cornered. I still can't sleep on my bed. I sleep on the couch. The living room has lots of ways out. Can't stand white noise like a fan. It reminds me of interrogation.
