I noticed the terms of service now state you must be 13 to be on the forums. I know they used to say 18 because underage people were told to come back when they were older.

Anyway, it is one thing to keep track of who is 18 or older out in the regular forums. A completely different thing to keep track of it in here. Why do I bring this up? Because sexual topics are often discussed. I used to belong to another board and whenever someone underage asked anything even remotely sexual, they were told to go to the teen sexuality board as it was inappropriate for adults to be advising them on such matters.

I know this is just an example, but in another thread here where it is anonymous, someone advises the OP to get a sexual toy. Wouldn't you feel weird if later you found out the OP was under 18? That you told an underage person to get a sex toy?

I feel like I'm going to have to label all of my posts even remotely dealing with sex as "under 18 need not respond" and anytime I see a post about sex I'll have to ask the OP if they are 18 yet.

Just my feelings on the topic.

According to most countries legally, anyone over the age of 13 can have such discussions without legal issue. It is only under the age of 13 such conversations could be an issue.

Persons 13+ do not need parental consent to talk, advise or receive advice, online... which is why I changed it due to recent changes in most countries as they're catching up with online activity. They can also post their information legally, contact details, et cetera, without legal repercussions for the forum, without parental consent.

Gotcha. Morally I still feel its wrong though (I'm not arguing as I know you're following the law.) It's just something personal I guess. I don't feel comfortable in engaging in such conversations with those who are underage, so I'll just be conscious of who I am responding to.

Gosh. I had not thought of this and agree. I also thought that in general I would respond differently to someone under 18 as their brains have not fully developed.

I wonder if it could show on their avatar "under 18". At least those around could possibly manage the situation better. A forum for under 18's is unlikely to work as there are so few and they will gravitate to where there is traffic.

I agree what is legally allowed and what is best are two different things.
