General DVA - Surely Our Veterans Deserve Better

Well, DVA has finally responded with a resounding 'NO'. Apparently a "dentist " has decided that PTSD does not have anything to do with dental issues. It comes under "relevant dental accepted disability!" A dentist with a psychology degree? I don't F&#$ing think so.
PTSD apparently doesn't have symptoms of gritting your teeth so hard they break. I am so angry right now, l don't even know what to write. My vet can't eat properly because his teeth are so broken and down to raw nerve, he cleans his teeth with a soft coth so as not to make them bleed any further and the f'n dentist at DVA tells us that it is not part of PTSD.
Even as l write this I only get angrier. Grrrrrrr here they are wanting our taxes to go and help pay for maternity leave on top of our taxes that already pay people a 5000.00 baby bonus payment and they won't pay for our vets to get their medical problems treated. You have got to be kidding me.
I am venting here but it hasn't made me feel any better or calmer for having done so.

Poss, I have asked Anthony to reply to you being a veteran in Australia and all. Hope he can help you.

He obviously is not a gold card then, TPI! If he is a TPI then he is covered... if he is a white card holder, then yes, he is not, however; going to the dentist for the approach is not the right approach to throw at DVA.... you need to get a psychiatric report and psychiatric based evidence that states severe anxiety (PTSD) has an offset side-effect of teeth grinding. That is what will have impact with DVA... not a dentist who knows nothing about PTSD, just teeth.

Again, if he is a gold card TPI he is covered for all dental.

Sorry you're having such a hard time. I wish I could help, but right now all I can tell you is that I can sympathize. We've been fighting with the military health care system for a while now, because the only thing they want to do for my husband is throw some drugs down his throat and toss him out the door. Don't get me wrong - the antidepressants help. But it's not going to solve the underlying problem.
Hope things get better for you. Don't give up - remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease!
