Ear Infected

Im not sure, but I do know that I am don't have a sore throat or anything else going on. I do know that it fluid sometimes starts to go into my canal a little at a time and that there was some blood diluted in the fluid, the doctor said that she didn't see any perforations and that there was a lot of fluid behind the ear. I have tried the ear pulling thing but have had no success.

Keeping your ear dry will help it. Since my ear issues I have tried to keep them as dry as possible. I just hope you start feeling better soon.

Thanks, that is why I am at odds with using the drops, as they are very much wet, the last time I used them it felt like it didn't drip back out of my ear like it was suposed to.

Just a thought, is the infection in the inner ear (behind the ear drum) or in front o the ear drum? Drops are not much good if it's in the inner ear. One of the treatments they use in the UK is for children but it works on adults and is often a last resort before surgery if the infection is recurrent - they use a series of special balloons (sterile) with an adapter and you hold your breath, cover one nostril and blow the balloon up with your other nostril. This is supposed to open up the eustation tube (that goes from your ear to your nose so it can drain fluid away). I didn't work with me but does for some people. It might be worth seeing an ENT specialist if things don't improve (or it happens again) as a narrowing in the eustation tube often causes ear infections and doesn't often cause other symptoms. The tube can be widened with minimal discomfort.

Let us know how you are getting on. x

Yeah its not getting worse so that's good. But yeah it doesn't want to drain in I think, just drain out slowly. I'll see what they say at the follow up.

It is a bit uncomfortable, but I have some faith everything will be okay and I do plan on the follow up. It sounds a lot worse than I believe it is, and I hope I am not minimizing it.

I have read that you are going through some stuff right now with the surgery and everything and coming off the meds, which I think is really cool that you have tried to do that. Take it easy on yourself though.

Your right, I should go in tomorrow morning, I have been a little worried that the bones and other things of my ear could be bad off, or maybe the antibiotics just aren't working for me. I have given it a couple extra days and I feel the turning point for healing has kind of passed, so this isn't the time to do nothing and hope for the best.

Just got back from the doctor today. I have both otitis media and otitis externa, this explains the discharge. I got drops for my ear and I am to continue with the other antibiotics I have already been taking. It turned out to be a good appointment, I was also able to get some Xanax for the panic attacks I have been going through this week (never tried it) and renew my antidepressant.

Cant believe that, was waiting forever for my prescriptions. Called up the pharmacy and they finally found it, but they didn't make it out because it was so illegible. He said he was going to call them to have them verbally give him the prescription...hope this gets done tonight geez.
