I am a supporter and watching the positive impact of the above therapy approach is really exciting. Was just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this, either supporting or actually doing the therapy yourself?

I had no idea it was contraindicated. Wow.Speaking as a sufferer…
Sorry! No experience with either, here.
Until relatively recently EMDR was contraindicated for complex trauma. They now have advanced training for it, but the number of practitioners with that training is teeny-tiny. As I have complex trauma, I may choose to do it, someday, (we’ll see! Hopefully by the time I’d be doing it, I wouldn’t need to do it), but it’s not something I can do now.
EMDR has come a looooong way since it’s early days, and is continuing to grow & refine.I had no idea it was contraindicated. Wow.
That’s what processing trauma, regardless of modality, does. The past becomes remembered, instead of relived. My sufferer says it's absolutely shifted something within them, they have found that they have had a very different response to standard EMDR. They say they feel like they have let go of something long held, but they aren't sure what. They also had quite specific somatic reaction to it.
What is it that you have noticed in them that makes you say it’s a positive impact? And do you mind me asking - what were they like before this? Was the PTSD debilitating?I am a supporter and watching the positive impact of the above therapy approach is really exciting.
