ED Eating disorder what not to say

I am having a meeting tomorrow with my superior (I am a nun) and plan to tell her that I have an ED. I want to tell her what not to say to me about it. Suggestions?

No offense to any Catholics in here (used to be one myself), but why do you think that she would say something presumptively negative about it? She WILL have you pray on it, but depending on how progressive your superior is, she may not encourage or support modern medicine (therapy) to assist you through this disorder to wellness. Praying is great, but when dealing with any number of life situations, it really need walk hand in hand with modern medicine. I look at it this way, God would not have brought us to the clinical knowledge had he not wished us to use it for good. Best of luck to you sister.

I don't want her or other Sisters to watch what I eat, make comments, etc. I also don't want her and the other superiors to want to send me somewhere. I have a counselor and a doctor on it and have an appointment with a nutritionist. I will tell her that tomorrow. I guess I just don't want her and the others to freak out and make it worse.

Don't make it negative thing when you talk to her, but be positive in that you wanted to share with her your struggle, and briefly outline the steps you are taking presently. More importantly, follow up and outline the steps you need from her to support you through this transition. Here is where you will learn if your superior is super or not.

Deep breath, and think of it as a necessary part of the process to enlist the help of those who truly should be there to support you. GO YOU!

Glad it went well. I would assume she'd be professional and not share the info with other sisters, so you shouldn't have everyone checking out what you are eating. I gave a doctor's note to a boss once regarding anorexia treatment because I needed some leave time. My boss at the time hated me, but she was very good about respecting the leave I needed and my privacy. We never talked about it, but she was actually a little nicer to me, even though I avoided her as much as possible.

Best wishes for your recovery. Personally a good nutritionist was very helpful for me once I decided I really wanted to get well. It was physically hard for my body to tolerate normal amounts of food, and she helped create a plan week-to-week that made it all less overwhelming.

It is great to have it behind me! Right now I am upset I gained a few pounds and I plan to restrict a bit. I think the superior should be a good support.
