Friday, I've got so many thoughts swirling around on this topic, but this is a vital thing to remember. It is one of a zillion things to add to my original post.Same token, there are thousands of such attacks perpetuated daily....many far more successful.
My mind and body may be unwilling to accept this thought, but if you take "average" Americans on an "average" day... The United States, specifically, is currently the safest place, and at the safest time, in all history to be - or extremely close to it.
Of course there are different populations and so on (um, armed forces?? Yes I know. There are too many variations, I'm not going to attempt to list them here). I'm truly not trying to say that everyone shares this safety in an equal amount... but after a couple of long discussions with a couple of bright people, I've been almost forced to accept, on a logical, objective level, that the United States enjoys great safety even among the unrest and uncertainties that we all see. (Of course, the news/media does not want us to think that we are safe - that's no fun! Who's going to buy the paper that says, "Well, considering everything, things are ... well. We're muddling along." I mean, I would buy it but I'm a little...skewed!
Forgive me for adding humor to a serious topic here.)
I'm very very glad you noted this, Friday. I've got responses to some of the other things, but I think this is a fact that belongs within my original observation/question.
