I am currently working with a great trauma T who works with me using EMDR amoung other techniques. I am highly dissociative so we are struggling to make progress on procressing multiple traumas. I dont want to quit him because I truely believe he is thd best qualified T for my overall needs and I really trust him. My question is that I am considering seeing an additional T to work on brainspotting as well. I havent contacted them yet.
I am wondering if anyone has done both at the same time? Would this conflict in any way? It seems like brainspotting might be a bit easier on me to make some quick progress and hopefully reduce the dissociation to a reasonable level. I would love some advice. T told me yesterday that I am realistically looking at at least 1 to 5 years of therapy based on current condition providing no more skeletons fall out of the closet and we both know that there are almost definitely more skeletons waiting in the wings. I am just wanting to do what I can to speed up the process a bit. I am not getting any younger and dont want to spend the rest of my life in T.

I would take one thing at a time, EMDR for me was very intense and I wouldn't have been able to handle anything else. Just my opinion. go through EMDR and then decide.

My T uses EMDR and brainspotting together. Brainspotting has been more effective for me in working early trauma. I'd discuss it with your current T. But definitely brainspotting has been more helpful with less after effects.
