Have any carers tried EMDR for their own anxiety or other issues in dealing with their sufferer? I ask because my new T does EMDR and suggested that we might be able to use it for some of my issues. I was surprised by this statement, but it came up after I told her I was reading Shapiro's book. Any way, I was just curious if any other carers had used EMDR for themselves?

Thanks,

Jawn

I was going to try it however the person who was going to do it with me fell ill..........anything is worth a try IMHO.

It was mentioned right at the end of my session, so I guess we'll talk about it more next time. It sounds promising and now that I know she does EMDR, I have a few questions about it for her. Little does she know that she may have opened up a big can of worms by telling me that! HA! :D

Yeah but Jawn an opened can of worms means they can get out and slide away (or however they move) where canned up they just sit there and stew ;)

I'm curious too Jawn! It seems the more we study for our loved ones the more we point those analytic eyes back at ourselves. I've been experimenting with EFT and wondering if it's similar to EMDR.

Well she mentioned that Shapiro's book mentions how to do EMDR on yourself and said we would talk more about it on our next visit. We were already 10 minutes over and she had to get going because she had a group therapy class at another location in 45 minutes. I actually thought about asking her about EFT, but didn't due to time issues.

My SO isn't ready at all for either, but she thinks it may be good before things are over so I'm doing the gathering of info thing...so input on the subject mucho appreciatto Jawn

I was told EMDR would be good for me to do at some point . As a carer in a way we are almost needing healing more sometimes. :(

seedling, do you want me to send you a can of stewed worms to try? LOL! I know there are stores here that sell canned slugs if you would rather have those. :D

I hear what you are saying sickofit. Not sure it's "more", but certainly just as much in my opinion.
