Extreme Weather Conditions

Glad it's not LIVE embers.......my parents were nearly wiped out during the Black Saturday fires, the wind changed 1km from the property.....bit of a scare!

It's now cooled to about 26C, and I just spent half an hour sunbaking......I'll go back out a little while once the sun intensity drops.

I'm white as a sheet from working in Aged Care, so it's about time I went and got a bit of a glow.

I'm glad it's not live embers too! The temperature has dropped quite a bit today thankfully, but the fires are still out of control.

I feel good though - I baked some goodies for the local fire brigade, and today I rang our local Coles supermarket and asked for a donation of bottled water for the firefighters - they donated 240 bottles :) I've also put away some kids clothes etc ready to be donated to those in need.

I'm glad you're prepared. When I lived in the foothills, we had fires around us just about every year. Hosed down the house more than once. One year we had to jump in the pool and watched the flames jump overhead. Now let me tell you that scared the heebe's out of us. Moved that year to a different location.

Yep, it's a bit grim in various parts of Tassie at the moment - and I'm in the South. The bit that got way too hot and crispy. There are so many fires - and whilst the warnings have been downgraded, they are going up and down all the time as conditions change, and they still remain out of control.

Yes, little bubby bilby was a bit poorly like his older brother and sister but I think he's turned the corner now. Nasty viral things floating about. It's so funny that you called him "furry friend" - we called him that when he was first born as he really was furry on his shoulders and back LOL (my husband said he was just like his mother). Noice LOL

Yes, bilbies are in the hotter states... little desert-dwelling critters. I just like them :)

Oh Bubz, I don't have any as pets.

When I talk about my baby bilby or my littlest bilby etc etc - I'm actually referring to my children! As in real life, little people - not actual bilbies. That's why I wanted to slap my husband upside his head when our now 6 month old son was born and he had little furry shoulders and a little furry back LOL!!! So to confirm the position in this house - Me, husband, son (8), daughter (6) and son (6 months), dog (9) and cat (11).

Ahahahahahahaaaaaaaa you have given me the biggest laugh today!! :p:D:hilarious:
