This book has me going from laughing to sadness. It is also confusing in parts, or maybe that is where my mind is just now.

I love his encounter with the Mr Black from upstairs. Then when Oskar told his Mom, if he could have chosen it would have been her. OMG, it brought back times when I have said something and instantly regretted it for the hurt it caused .

I've only read the first couple of chapters. But I love the way he uses language and the ideas of communicating in all different ways, and that being ok.

I'm being slow reading, but am enjoying it very much.

Jealous... I wanted to finish this on the weekend, though got distracted by life, some work around the house and a game instead. Doh!

I hope to finish it tomorrow. I know about the key but I won't spoil it for everyone but it wasn't what I was expecting.

The photos of 'the falling man' from the twin towers also had my heart racing.

Not much brings a tear to my eyes, though that book accomplished just that today as I finished reading it.

Now I have to get the movie and sit Nicolette down in front of it, because if it had that affect on me, it will fix her up for a good month, letting her have a good cry and get all the emotional stuff out.

What a seriously powerful story. I absolutely loved the meeting with the key. The two sons of deceased fathers, both searching for each other to find answers to help them heal the loss of their father. Wow... both Oskar and his mother both keeping secrets, eating away from the inside about the dad ringing, both to him and to her, yet unknown to one another.

I actually fully understand why the book made it to a movie. With the grandparents story going along side, just as powerful in places... then burying all his written words in his sons empty coffin. OMG... highly recommended reading.

I finished it. Wow.

I did as Oskar did and flicked through the 'falling man' images. So sad that both Oskar and his Mom were holding onto the secret of the last phone messages.

Very thought provoking.

This book is wonderful - I can hardly put it down. I had to buy the paperback because it's not available on Kindle in the U.S.

There's something about the way the main character thinks that is so logical and yet innocent in a way that I totally get. I keep thinking of quotes from the book throughout my day, that's how touched I am.

Great choice!!!! So glad to be reading this.

I also got the movie yesterday, and we finished watching it tonight at dinner time. I thought it would be good for Nicolette to have a little cry and get her emotions out of the way for a while. She loved it...

The movie was a little different to the book, especially the ending, though I doubt people would have the stomach for the ending of the book versus the ending they gave the movie, which was all warm and fuzzy all round, without digging into an empty coffin.

Very impressed with both though, the book and the movie.

I don't know if I am ready for the movie. I'm still mulling over the book.

I will put it on my movie list at some stage. Next movie we watch is Tintin:D.
