I took the book to York with me and was instantly drawn in by Oscars cute but intelligent way of speaking.
At first I wondered about the letters and found it a little confusing as it flipped from person to person with little explanation. It finally came together, like a good 'Whodunnit' which Oscar would have enjoyed.
The bombing of Dresden was graphic and well written, emotional and creative; showing the horrors of war from the German perspective and the loss of so many lives. Very sad and exceptionally well written.
I loved Oscars 'Which I know about but wish I didn't' comments and the way his mind works. It does sound, like Anthony said, that he might be a bit Autistic. he didn't grasp the sarcastic humour of the kids at school.
A very touching encounter with the chap who had lost the key. Very moving and, I'm sure, closure for both of them.
A wonderful book; though provoking, moving, funny with so many emotions. A young boy who touches so many lives.
Finished it yesterday and loved it!
