It's to hard for me to fake. At my first assignment I use to smile all the time and I was generally happy ever since I got back from my deployment is I hear the most is you really need to smile more. While I'm thinking well there isn't much to smile about anymore but I usually don't say anything. This past week was a tough week and somebody even told me that I looked like I was ready to kill somebody... That made me laugh a little because it was a bad week and I wondered how long they were staring at me before they decided to have the courage to tell me that I looked like I was going to kill somebody but still talked to me

Ever notice the difference in who's talking & what they see?

Civvies - You look great!
Vet - Shit. Who's about to die?

Civvies - You look like you're about to kill someone.

So true Friday. What is really funny is as I was reading that one of the people that told me I need to smile more saw me smiling as I read that and said that it was good to see me smile. It's only because of this site that I'm able to actually smile now and then at work

To all I say:

I think a big part of the problem is NOT us, but everyone else. Seriously! Think about it. We live in a society with an ingrained tendency to entitlement where everyone is special and unique and should revel in that "fact".

Then we veterans return home after having learned the hard way we are all basically pusher-sperm for a bunch of ingrates with money and power far more interested in their game of drones (pun intended) than in the advancement of humans.

So, in my mind we are the normal folks. Yes, we are grim and paranoid and angry and lonely, but only because we are immersed in and surrounded by the blissfully ignorant. We have seen the best and worst sides of humanity. Almost all of them haven't even seen themselves.

So, in short and in my opinion, f*ck 'em. They can't, won't and never will be capable of even the barest comprehension of what we have seen, done, and survived.

We EARNED our entitlements. We SUFFER every minute of every day so the rest of the f*cking herd can continue on with their mastabatory cheeseburger dreams and senseless ideologies of blind faith and fairness.

Don't EVER let those sheep and cattle tell you how to fell or how to act. Celebrate the fact we are the predators, be we wolves, Shepard-dogs or a mix of both, albeit very tired ones...

We are only dour and grim when compared to them. Put us all in the same room from them, and it is those mouth breathing, ignorant zombies that are abnormal. They feed us bullshit and pills to try to make us more like them, when in my mind they should be more like us.

Goddamn folks! I think my new pills just kicked in. Wonder if the NSA is gonna flag me for that manifesto sounding rant?

Meh. f*ck 'em.

Hang in there and give them all a scowl for me, too!

Instilled in us was one thing.
There are sheep, sheepdogs and wolves.
Sometimes a sheepdog is not enough to keep the herd safe.
It takes a few wolfs on the good side as well.

Understanding that doesn't take away all the guilt but it makes a difference.

Agreed. Using that analogy however makes me realize I am likely just a creepy-crawly hiding under a rock in the pasture. But I'm okay with that too. There are neat things happening under rocks if you take the time to look.;)

Does anyone put on a happy face and deep down you wanna yell at the people?

I do cause I hate people asking whats wrong.

Tonight my poor roommate got little taste of my anger. And the guy has been just trying to help. I apologized and gave him a hug.
Depends on the situation: family, friend, work, etc. Usually I avoid or isolate when I know it will do neither me or them any good. That includes certain family & so-called (previous) close friends. With the ones I really don't care about, I'm fine with faking cordial and keeping interaction at a minimum. So the ones that play an important part in my life have been significantly reduced obviously, to include some family, especially if they were all about drama.
