Hi Nin,

Welcome to MyPTSD forum! :)

Many members here benefit from medication, and there are those who medication does not help, or they prefer not to take it. Medication does not "cure" PTSD, but it can help a person as they do the work involved with trauma processing and recovery. Unfortunately, fear is a real symptom and can be disabling unless you learn to confront and manage the fear. It is when you start to tackle each aspect head on, and learn to overcome or manage it, that the real healing occurs. Trauma processing and recovery is difficult and it is normal for people to feel worse before they feel better.

Take some time and read the various threads about medication, symptom management and therapy. Each person has to decide what is best for them and what methods will work best in their recover. There is also a related forum you may find helpful: MyDometicViolence.com.

Take care.

Debbie

Benzodiazepines work for PTSD..I've had pharmacology classes. The other pills really don't work and/or the mechanism of action is unknown. Kinda scary what they're giving people.
